you get to the dealer for an oil change and a few other things, and end up paying like $400 for stuff they found to be busted?

new headlight housing $180 (not including your labor), new belt 66.18, blah blah blah.

i love my xD, but commonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I'm pretty sure they asked you to perform the repairs with the costs, before they charged you for it. I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to perform those repairs without permission.

You might also want to check your warranty, to see if those repairs could have been done for free... and get a little money back if so.

Otherwise, if a dealer tells me there is something wrong with my car, I would always see if there was a cheaper solution before letting them fix it. Like trying to find that housing on ebay (or here on SL), and fixing it myself.

what mileage are you at? and what on earth was wrong with those parts? i think you got taken for a ride dude. i didn't need a new headlight for my tC for 4 years, and that was because i hit a deer. why on earth would you "need" a new headlight housing?

also, your accessory belt should last for a good while.to check if you need a new one, you look at it, and if you have 6 cracks in the belt per inch, then it is time to replace it.

all you needed was an oil change, new oil filter, check air filter, and rotate tires.

I'm pretty sure you agreed to pay those charges, in my opinion you got rocked man.
Everytime you take your car to get an oil change, they will do a maintenance inspection on your vehilcle based on mileage, service history and visual, and they will recommend repairs on what they find. Other places just try to rape naive people's wallets.

Thanks for all the concern. I did know something was iffy with my headlight housing cause it has always had some play with it. Figured it was a loose screw but indeed it was busted on the bottom. Guy said it had to of been a "minor impact". I bought this from them too, so this was brilliant to hear...

The belt I'm not too concerned with. It has been nonstop squeaking since winter hit, and this allows me nab the part and take it elsewhere for my NST pulley to get on there finally.

Given that I've been to this place like 3 times with no incident, this was surely a shock, but I've already planned to get some money back from this.

Edit: Mileage is 38k give or take. Just found all my parts on eBay, and i'm kicking myself now, but at least I can fix it.

Can you post a list of what they did. I'm pretty sure the belt was fine, it just needed to be tightened(simple diy, one bolt by the alternator).
