Default Annoying squeak found -- Shift cable!

UPDATE: So.... I was wrong! I took the car to the Toyota dealership and they found that one of the shift cables was rubbing the firewall. I had just recently noticed that one of the cables looked out of place (I just posted it in another thread). So I guess they put it in wrong when they installed the SSK.

Old thread continues...

I've had this really annoying squeak start up recently. I've been looking all over trying to find it... I thought for sure it was in the front suspension. However, I ran across a service bulletin:

S-SB-0003-09
Transverse Engine Mount - Abnormal Noise and Vibration on Acceleration

Anyway, I just went out and physically shook the engine and was able to produce the same squeaking sound! Sure enough, it is coming from the engine mount (the one on the transmission, actually). So, it's time to take my car in to Scion for the first time.

i had the squeak with the shift cable too and it's still OEM. it was relubed and it's fine. prolly salt buildup since it occured after winter as it warmed up.

but with the trans mount, I still have this thunking sound coming form the engine bay upon applying brakes. just don;t know what it is.

Jim, just to clarify, my sound was the cable rubbing against the firewall. They just routed the cable properly and that fixed mine.

As far as the motor mount goes... according to the TSB, the noise will be during accelerating and/or shifting.

There should not be a squeak from first to second. You might have a shift cable out of place like I did. Do you have the short shifter kit installed?
