1) rock flew up off a car next to us, dang near took out mt GFs fingers and put a dent right below the door handle
2) asphault puck flew up on the highway and left hella big chip in my windshield-company that was doing the road work paid for it through their insurance though-it took me a lot of photos and phone calls to get it done though
3) front bumper has lots of rock chips, scrapes including 1 I did when I dropped the aluminum grill
4) weird shallow dent on pass door, but is coated with black that won't come off my car
5) nice gouge in rear bumper from futon transporting
6) weird chip and scrape in windshield pillar from rock on highway (must have hit really hard to do it)
7) about 30 little rock chips in windshield that is about a year old
two different areas where bird poo ruined the paint, when I went to wash it off it was already scratched from it and when I tried to buff it out the dullness still stayed there even though the poo was gone

Hit a deer at around 30-40 mph, unsure since I hauled on the brakes from 50 or so.

Damage doesn't show much until you look closer at it. Bumper shifted about ¼" towards the driver's side. Headlight lens is fine but the rear mount is broken. Headlight was pushed into/dented the fender, also put a ½" crack in the bumper. Radiator support is bowed.

Estimate came back around $2700. A week later, the windshield cracked from a rock chip.
Can't see any damage at all from this angle :D

Appearance-wise, yes...
Body shops around here are pretty lousy... would rather keep the factory finish than have them leave runs and sand scratches in the paint.
Been thinking I might epoxy the headlight mount, straighten out the fender, realign the bumper, and call it a day. It didn't leave any scratches, just the chip in the paint on the fender from the headlight. I can probably live with the crack in the bumper since the headlight will cover most of it anyway.

I use to not care about denting other people's door when I got my license when I was 17. But one day while I was driving my Honda Tin Can (Civic) to PepBoys to replace a broken headlight, I dented a Lexus at the lot and a huge African American male came rusing out of the store. He made a scene, threatening with vulgar, and wanted me to admit I hit his door. So I apoligized and now I have more respect for other property.

I was just like you. When I was a younger driver, I also didn't care too much about parking too close or the possibility of accidentally denting someone elses beloved brand new car.
Nowadays, I do care. Because I now realize that even minor dents and scratches cost a lot of money to repair. Now, whenever I park, I stay away from crowded areas and tight parking spaces. I try to park in areas where there is extra elbow room.
I don't think ANY of us will ever be 100% immune from getting small dings and dents and chips. Eventually we will end up getting one or more, no matter how careful, it's just a matter of time. However, it's really heartbreaking when the car is fairly new, only less than 1 or 2 years old.

I was at a local resturaunt a few weeks back. Parked far out. Plenty of spots in the lot. A huge Ford 350 truck parked so close to my driver's door, that I had to crawl in thru the passenger's side to get in the driver's seat. I was so mad~
Obviously, there was not a passenger in the truck as they would not have been able to get out due to it being parked so close.
I was very tempted to go back in and ask for the owner of the truck to come out, but did not. Instead, left a nice note on his truck asking where did he learn to park and of all the places in the lot.. etc.. and told him to go back to the county he came from. He was from OH, but different county. GRRR..

".... and the next time some moron like you parks stupidly next to my car, I'll grab my can of spray paint and vandalize your ugly $50,000 truck. Understood?"
That will make the dimwit think twice.
