Cabin Filter missing
I've decided to replace cabin filter on my xD 2009 (bought on Sept, 2008 / 56k miles now) for the first time since I got the car. And found that there was NO any cabin filter installed! Is this normal?
Yep. No xD in the US came with the cabin filter. Only Puerto Rico, for some odd reason. I knew this, and had bought a cabin filter from TRD Sparks before my xD had even arrived. My dealership doesn't even keep them in stock.
just got mine the other day its realy easy to get a hold of and to install walked into autozone and they had like 10 of them on the shelf just pop the top mounts in on the glove box and it slides right in behind it took like 20 seconds lol.
Was easy to install. These things work great.. It doesnt take long before they turn black from all the crap in the air. It also keeps the evaporator working more efficiently as it keeps it clean.. so it will help keep your ac at its best
I just replaced my cabin filter again. Both times previously, I have used the Toyota filter. This time, I put in a filter from AutoZone. Below, you'll see a screen shot from my YouTube video of the clean Toyota filter going in 7 months ago. The second picture is that same filter as I took it out yesterday.

yeah mines only been in for about a month and it already got a brown blackish tint to it haha they are worth it if you dont have one scrap up some change and get one lol
All that junk getting into the air box just leads to stinky musty air. Condensation from the AC combines with organic material -- leaves, bugs, etc -- and you start to get mold and mildew growing in there. Not to mention that the condensate drain can get clogged, which will result in water spilling out into the car. Not fun, either.
No doubt Toyota should have just put the filter in there. They have no excuse other tha wanting to save a few bucks on each car. And I mean a FEW bucks.
