Default Cold weather states brake recall

So I got the brake vent recall done on my xD over the weekend and it turns out that it includes more than just the Throttle Body Spacer with the vent. it also includes a new Intake Hose that has a breather hose fitting on it to hook the Throttle Body breather hose to it.

The point in me telling you all this is that I can't use my AFE CAI anymore. so it's back to the stock breathing gear, until I can figure something out.

Well that sucks. I am going to get mine done this weekend. I am not reverting back to a stock intake. This is going to be interesting.

Could someone post some GOOD pictures of what was done so I have an idea. My piping is custom made by me so I need to know what I am going to be dealing with.

Interesting. I wonder if that intake had been designed after the recall was announced.

I'll try and take some pics tonight. Depends how late I get home from work, and how cold it is.

Parts I'm 100% certain were involved are painted red.

I'm not sure about these shiny new-looking pipes that are circled.

Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the engine bay before the recall was performed to compare. If someone does have pics of the stock engine compartment without the big cover on the motor it'd be great if they would post them here.

Yea those two pipes and tubing are new to the engine bay. Looks like a pretty cheap and quick fix for the brake issue. I'd love to get a CAI but if this affects the ability to even have a CAI.. then I don't think I'd want the dealer to do the recall then.

Ok got the recall done today.

Good news

They don't do anything to the intake pipe. The part is just a replacement tube. If you have an aftermarket intake just let the tech know and that's that. Nothing has to be modified on a CAI or SRI. I put my original intake pipe next to the new replacement on for the recall and I don't notice any difference. The tech that did mine just put the new intake tube on my seat.

I performed this recall on a 09 Pontiac Vibe with the same 1.8 we have in our xDs. The Vibes dont require a new intake tube so that brings me to a conclusion that the new tube we get is pointless.

This recall really just relocates one vent hose from being on the intake manifold below the throttle body to the new spacer plate that goes between the throttle and manifold. That in turn brings the vent hose above the throttle body. And that original hole gets plugged.
