I think if you only did the lower lip, like a Matrix, it might look OK.

That's the good part.

It's got couple of imperfections when inspected from 5 inches away, but from about 10 ft in normal daylight it will be ok. Flash on the camera made the connection line pretty visible.

That's why I like vinyl - if I get sick of it in a month it will take me 10 minutes to peel the vinyl off and clean/wax the surface. With paint, I'd be out several hundred $ and hours of my time.

Hopefully I'll finish it tonight and install the last piece of the fiveaxis kit, then pictures in the daylight tomorrow.

Sorry THE DON but black wheels with a polished lip are on everything now....sorry its played out deal with it.
But I do agree that on an xD this mod is not working for me. The design of the bumper though does lend itself to this application so its inevitable that it would happen.

GTI analogy comes from this:

I know it was not your intent to emulate this look but the similarity is definately there.

And an EVO for good measure

Maybe if you framed the edge or put in an accent pinstripe around it the break line might appear more even. Just use a contrasting color to black and the stock paint, silver, red or blue depending on accent color maybe?

It would be interesting to do it in a different color other than black Maybe like a red or something.

See, that's where I would draw the line. Black at least has a hint of it being OEM. Once you start with other colors it becomes too racy for me.

Eh I could careless what other people think on what I do with my car Mycar, not theirs. 'Sides it could liven up the car more than black.

Check the "spot the rice" thread... Black rims hardly qualify.

Black vinyl used to "simulate" a custom front bumper does make the cut.

I saw a Yais hatch with his front bumper center section black, but it was incorprated into a full two tone Black/White paint scheme. Still looked a little like a GTI knock-off, but time and money made it look nice.

Blah, blah blah.

Can it already, we heard you the first time.

I don't think he's imitating the GTI at all. He's just using black vinyl to further pronounce the lines between the two grilles on the bumper. Rice? Hardly. I think it actually makes the front of the xD bearable... it looks less "chunky."

Great work, Zoltiz, although I preferred just the blacking out of the bumper, not the lip as well.

That looks good . I'm working on an overlay for that . I have it for the 2nd gen xB's already, and other cars as well .

j/k.

I'm hoping for aircraft-aluminum green, not purple.

Thanks for the laugh.
