Lowering the xd. shocks and struts? Rims too
If you lower the xd with trd springs, do you need to get the trd shocks and struts kit? Will you need to in the future?
Also, does anyone know of any non trd (they cost too much), decently priced rims that look good on the xd? I don't care what size, 16 and 17 are preferred though (I hit alot of bumps for 18s and there heavier lol)

TRD lowering springs aren't much of a drop, and won't be as harsh on your shocks as say a tanabe DF. it all depends on how you drive it. if youre gonna slam it in the corners, then youre going to need to replace them alot sooner. to be safe, i'd say go 2 years on the stockies, and then start to think about replacing them. regardless of how safe we try to drive, stuff happens. im sure it would last much longer than 2 years (maybe 5-6) but...the point is when you lower your car, you should always be safe and replace the shocks. but as you said, you hit aot of bumps, and that can work to ruin shocks (especially when equipped with springs that they are not valved for.) i say go two years at the most.
i agree that 18's are too big (i personally love 15/16 oldschool rims...) but i say 17 at most, and i agree with getting stock tC alloys...ive been looking and looking for em but its so hard to find anyone whos willing to sell lol...my suggestion..DONT GO BLACK W/ CHROME LIP. its overplayed, and looks horrid -_- (just my opinion though :D)
The OE shocks/struts are decent. They work well when paired with the TRD Springs. There's no need to upgrade unless you're looking for better handling performance. It is, however, recommended to get these when it's time for a replacement. The price is about the same, and you can 'try 'em out' without any guilt.
Lightweight 18s would be great, but middle weight 17s would be good too. The 18 gives a nice look, IMO, but will slow down the car quite a bit.

I highly recommend upgrading your shocks with your lowering springs. You will regret not doing it when your stock shocks/struts blow out (and they will).
I'm dealing with this right now, after a year my stock shocks blew and now I have to remove everything again and install new ones (not looking forward to it).

I change out shocks and struts about every 50k miles anyway.

Yea, the shocks will wear out anyhow... it's the same thing. My logic behind it is "Why change 'new' shocks?" Doing it when you need to is a lot easier to explain to the wife
