How do I verify actual year is 2009. The inside of the door states manufactured in Japan 2/2008?

i believe the 10th digit is the model year

 

I wouldn't imagine it's an '09 because the data plate on my car says it was made in 6/2008 and it is an '08 model.

Is this car new? If so, simply look at the manufacturers sticker on the window, it won't lie. I assume you must be buying used?

 

As lostxd wrote, a 9 in the tenth digit location indicates a 2009 model.
Or use the vin decoder at http://fleet.toyota.com/html/50/vin_decoder.asp

For what it's worth, my just purchased 2009 shows it was built in 10/2008

 

thank you I did check the vin# in the 10th position. It's an 09. It has nitro tires, does 33 psi still apply? It has electronic steering, feels loose compared to my 06 xA.

i've driven both the xA and xD

the xD does feel a bit "looser" but it could just be that the xD is newer =]

 

I don't get it. Mine is an '08 and was made 6/08. How could one be made in February 08 and be an '09 model?

Done Deal! Went in to buy the Metallic Blue and left with the Barcelona Red Metallic. I didn't get any extended warranty. Did get the Nitro Tires.

 

I assume this post was for me. I did not get the Nitro tires, mine has Bridgestone Turanza's.

i always thought it was spelled nitto though. hm. lol

 

What I couldn't see before, I see now. And yes, I would assume it was Nitto tires too....I think Nitro tires are for big trucks!

 

I thought 09 started their production in october... At least that's when mine and the ones I saw on the lot were made.

 

It appears the 9th digit method is accurate.
