Default Unlocking SNS Alternatives

Hi all,

I spent quite a while on this site and through search engines trying to find ways to unlock my SNS so that I'm able to switch through songs or even find a POI while the car is in motion. I found step by step instructions on how to do it but only by cutting wires. I'm asking if there's another way. I've read that other GPS systems have a code that you can enter by pressing a combination of buttons and then certain features unlock. Even some Toyota models' GPS can do this. Anyone know one for Scion, preferably the XD? If cutting wires is the only way, does anyone know if those places that install car stereo systems and customize cars offer a service for unlocking the motion detection in GPS's?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm going on a road trip on the 4th of July weekend and it would be great to be able to disable that "feature."

Thanks

I don't think there is a combination to get out of it. With that said, the mod is really easy to do. I just put the VSS on a switch and mounted it in the knock out plate we have to cover the hole for push button start so I could turn the VSS on or off. Then all I did was find the parking brake ground that locks out the DVD player while driving and grounded it to the head unit. Works great.

If you are located anywhere near me, I would be happy to help you out with the mod.

Yeah the tutorial looks easy enough but I would rather have someone with more experience in cars handle it for me. Thanks for the offer btw but unfortunetly I'm all the way in the land of infernal heat and ignorance, Arizona.

Also what makes me worried is that I have the BLU Logic installed in my car as well. Cutting that wire, I don't know how it will affect the BLU Logic. Would you happen to know what would happen if anything at all?

Not sure first hand how or if it would affect the Blu Logic system. I have yet to install that myself on the car.... it's in my July budget.

On a speculative note, I really don't see how switch mounting the VSS wire would have any affect on the operation of the Blu Logic system. It is my understanding that Blu Logic has nothing to do with the motion of the vehicle. The only thing you lose with the switch OFF is the speed sensitive volume and the 'predictive' position of the vehicle on the GPS map using speed information.

When putting the system back together, I did notice an empty port on the back of the navigation unit. I assume that is the port the blu logic mates to. If that is the case and it is plug and play, you should see no interruption of your system. It really sounds more complicated than it is, but once you get started, the mod is really easy to complete, you will be glad that you did it.
