Since it has auto air, that sensor determines the in-cabin ambient air temp, to correctly adjust the interior temp to whatever temp you choose on the dash. Pretty neat gadget...

Nothing wrong with that. I like the xD lowered - it handles better (for me) and drives more like a car.

 

Going simply by exchange rates isn't really a way to gauge how much things are going to cost over here. What you should do is compare how much Toyota charges for cars in the US vs. how much they charge for cars in the UK, and then go from that.

Well, if you take a look at the average car in the UK, you'll see where the "mini-SUV" comes into play.

As far as price goes... a Yaris starts at 9000 pounds in the UK and the Aygo goes for 7-9. In Germany the Aygo goes for 9500 euros and the Yaris starts around 12k...

Sounds to me like it's on par with Yaris pricing, which is cheap =p

Now with the HVAC... I'm willing to bet that it would almost be a straight swap. The computers in the vehicles can't be too different, plus I'm sure they use the same harnesses to save money. I could be wrong, of course, but that would make sense.

I dont see why Toyota would NOT want to market the xD as a mini SUV here. Give it 4WD and over 30 MPG and it will be a hit.

Hey, up here in NorCal we get snow almost every year in the valley and 4-7 months per year up the hill. If the xD were to be an all wheel drive for a few $K more, I would have had some SERIOUS confliction about which model to get.

It would be like a Suby Outback but BETTER!!! lol

I'm not sure how much of an indication this really is, but the Avensis is AWD, and it's one of their most popular cars over in Europe.

 

The UK version will also have a Tardis as a standard feature.

 

Probably because much of Europe has mostly poor, uneven roads, and many city streets are built upon steep hills, steep inclines, narrow winding streets, slippery cobblestone roads still in use since Roman times, etc etc. An AWD certainly is more practical in those conditions.

OK BACK TO TOPIC... Do most of you out there see it as a good sign that toyota is selling BASICALLY the exact same vehicle? I do. I think it means that they plan to use the body shape/platform well into the near future. I mean as far as I know the UK/Europe has never had a an xD,IST/UrbanCruiser sold to them before...right? I think the fact that there is some longevity for our model in the forseeable future (the launch of the UC in the UK as a good omen) ultimately means that there is at least a good chance our aftermarket will continue to grow, especially being on 3 major continents now.
