Default XD's are here

Drove by Pleasanton Scion and saw a red XD on the lot still in wraps. The red is not bright, more of a duller red. Only looking from the outside, car still reminds me of an XA. Still like the XB's better as I prefer that design. Nothing to get the heart pumping. Also saw a truck with a blue XD heading up towards oakland or walnut creek area.

Yup.... sat in one at Roseville Scion (near Sacramento) last night. I was really looking forward to maybe trading my Classic xB in for one of these... but I changed my mind the minute I sat in it. The car's style doesn't really do anything for me... It seems like something's missing on the inside... it's kinda plain. It actually made me kinda like the original xA a little more. It also makes the new xB look like a better bargain.

Scion seems lost in the design department.

I think I'll hang onto my Classic xB a little longer.

Yes, something is missing....the FiveAxis lip kit. With that lip kit installed, the xD goes from stodgy to studly.

Just checked one out...

Wow, the interior is really cheap! It's Yaris quality at best. Makes the Fit Sport feel like a luxury car.

I wasn't feeling the interior at all. The outside looks nice, except for that hood/nose.

Basically, for $16k you've got a lot of cars to choose from, and the xD hardly stands out.

Yup... Scion is charging too much for the xD. It should be around the 14,500 to 15,000 range instead of hovering around 16k. I really wanted to get an xD until I saw it in person and decided it wasn't worth the price. The darn thing looks like a Tupperware container on the inside. The new Hyundai Accent hatch has a better interior... and is a few grand less!

Well, xD is $15.1, Fit S is $16+ with no iPod interface and 20hp less. I'm still sticking to xD. We'll see about the interior when I get my hands on it.

Hoping to stop by the dealer sometime very soon. Im supposed to recieve a call from one of the reps. I was told the 5th, but perhaps they've got them already then? do you guys know if the dealers in Sacramento have them, then the ones here in so cal would have them too? I'm no longer in search for a manual so its not the biggest deal to be the first person there.

You can get a fit sport for below sticker with no rip off fees. Scion cannot match that with their stealers selling the car. A yaris liftback with option c has alomst everything that the xD has for 14.5 with destination plus it will get much better mpg. Yea it has 23 less hp but neither of these cars were made for speed. My ninja will blow away 98% of all cars on the road so a car to me is just about getting from point to point when the weather is bad. If I want to go fast I get on my bike. Scion dropped the ball big time. They got greedy.

What does the xD have going for it? Smaller "Yaris quality" interior (especially the cargo) than the xA, lower mpg when compared to a compact car like the corolla with a pretty steep price.

I still have yet to test drive one, but right now I just can't see how I can choose this over a car that is roomier and has better fuel economy like the fit

Exactly right. The bland interior will leave more room for customization IMO. Plus it's hella better looking than the xB2 so I think it's a better bargain. Can't wait to see one in person tho.

The Fit is not "pure priced" like Scion. And, when edmunds tested both cars, the Fit won in terms of handling, MPG and cargo room. The extra 20 hp only made it a few ticks faster to 60mph. And let's not forget the Versa. Same hp numbers as the xD, and can be had cheaper!

I'm not knocking the xD, or promoting the Fit or Versa, I just think the new Scions are not the "bargain" they used to be. You pretty much get what you pay for. And in the xD's case, you trade 20 hp for a quality interior. It's a toss up in my book. If I were in the $16k market I wouldn't be running to the Scion dealer.

I am in the $16K market, and I looked and looked and looked and still can't find anything close to the xD. I can't stand the mexican-built Versa exterior and I don't want to pay $16.2 for the Fit S (that's the lowest local dealers will let it go for - the car is too hot of a product). I am not ready for Hyundai /KIA just yet and Yaris hatch is just too damn small.

"Quality interior" is a subjective characterization. I'd have to agree that Fit S has a more luxurious feel (at least from the photos), but I have a couple of ideas in mind that will make the xD more on par with the Fit for very little money. We'll see.

The interior doesn't look too bad. Except for the missing headunit. I do agree however that the pricetag on these things have gone up significantly. I'm not considering the Fit. Checking out the Honda Dealer today. Let you guys know

I think I'm going to like the little thing.

Yeah right....maybe if you walk in with a gun. Most of the Honda dealers in Western Washington are still charging a premium for the Fit. If you're fortunate, you might find a dealer here that will sell you a Fit for MSRP. Below invoice? Not happening.

Scion cannot match that with their stealers selling the car. A yaris liftback with option c has alomst everything that the xD has for 14.5 with destination plus it will get much better mpg.
First of all, the Yaris is butt ugly.

Secondly, it's #5 on the top 20 list of least safest cars on the road. http://www.forbes.com/2007/07/26/car...hisSpeed=30000

Third, according to the 2008 calculations on fueleconomy.gov the Yaris mileage (29/36) is marginally better than the Fit (28/35), and the xD (27/33).

Uhh...does everyone here have a Ninja to ride if they want to go fast?

But, I do agree with you that Toyota/Scion is charging too much for the xD.

i think it looks pretty good in terms of its potential.
TONS of potential, and i like the interior dash better than the xB2's.
with a drop, wheels, new hood/bodykit, the xD will look pretty sharp.

The xD has the same "cute" factor the xA/xB had and the xB2 doesn't.
