ok, how about this. How hard is it to do? Is it simply pull off the brake drum, unbolt the hub thing, pull the bearing out, take off the race then reverse all that?

not sure how hard the rear is. the fronts arent bad at all. the only time consuming thing is that (at least for the front) you need a hub assembly and a new wheel bearing. so you either buy new both, and have the bearings pressed in, or you take the old assembly off have the old bearings pressed out and new ones pressed in.

i cant see it being much different in the rear. itd be a couple hundred bucks from the dealer likely, because its a few hour job for a weekend warrior, probably 2-3 for toyota.

couple hundred from a dealer doesn't sound too bad. I may still look into doing it myself though I am not sure 100% which side it is coming from.

$597 at the dealer. plus on my first visit after my warranty ran out they found about 3 things wrong with my car.

I took it in and they said the right rear was bad. I had this issue way back when and they told me it was just normal road noise. i emailed Scion before I took it in and they are going to look into it for me.
