Default It cost $1400 to fix the Sunroof on my tC

thank god for the extended warranty. they had to replace motor and some other parts. one day i just heard clicking noises and the roof wouldnt move more than a couple inches.

i never abused it and i dont want this to happen again because its such an expensive fix. is there any maintenance i should be doing? from reading the manual a few years ago (my tC is 2006),
i dont remember it mentioning anything regarding maintenance of the sunroof.

I have the extended warranty and that rubber weather seal that lines along the front of the moonroof is coming up...that should be covered you think?

+1 I just went to the dealership cuz I was having issues where the sunroof would close and before it would fully close it would automatically open back up. They told me the sunroof need to be greased, they did it for free but I would have to pay like 40-50 bucks if this happened again.

wd-40 will actually degrease it. Just get a tub of grease from autozone or oreilys or whatever. I just use the grease that I bought for my motormounts when I was doing those. Seems to work fine

WD-40 is not a lubricant. White Lithium Grease will be your best bet.

yeah it was covered by the extended warranty, $50 deductable.

i assume its expensive because the dealer said they had to remove and install the roof again. labor intensive. picking up some white lithium grease from autozone tomorrow.

I got the white lithium grease and I solved my problem. Would have never thought of that if it wasn't for this thread.
