first time ever lowering... some advice for my xa...
so i've been thinking for a while of lowering my xa... but not like everyone else (not a cheapshot at 'everyone else'). though i want to lower both the front and back, i want to lower the front end just a bit more than the rear so the car will look flat from the top rather than the slant that it looks like now. this is my first experience with buying springs to lower my car... so:
should i get springs, or airbags?
are springs only sold in half inch measurements, quarter inch?
do i have to buy all 4 springs the same size?
what do you have and what do you recommend?
thanks for your time and help.

Depends on how low you want to go, and if you want to be able to adjust the height from inside the car. Don't forget coilovers as an option, too.

There are a wide variety of springs out there in various sizes.

You buy springs in sets. There are fronts and rears, and the height depends on the brand.

I have Teins S-Techs, and they are good for daily driving, IMHO.
Do your homework, and choose wisely. Also use the search feature, and you'll find tons of info on springs!

Also... if you want to go lower in front, you can buy the Monroe struts for the Echo. That will lower the front an additional .5"
I have Tein H.Tech right now, I want to go lower, either Goldline or S.Tech

Thanks ...
Coilovers will definatley be your best bet. Tein makes excellent parts, although i'm not terribly familiar with their scion stuff yet, the dampers in my current neon are made by tein and awsome, and the tein setups i've used in other cars have all been top of the line parts. One suggestion, if you do go coilovers, DEF IANTELY get a set that is damepning adjustable as well as ride height and spring height adjustable. Being able to dial everything in makes a huge difference in ride quality, durability and will let you expand the setup in the future by just swapping otu the springs for different rates without getting bounce etc.
the goldline springs used on the xA end up with the front being lower than the rear. i think by about a half inch to an inch. it's supposed to be an even drop, but it isn't and i think it's because they made the set to work for the xB also.
now i have goldline springs in the front and Tanabe DF210's in the rear from an xB and the distance from the tread to the wheel well line is even on all of them.
this is the only thing i've tried and personally i don't like having mismatched springs, but if you want the front lower than the rear go with goldline springs all around.

Just a sure thing since I hear so much good things about them.
