Default Oh man..the smell of burning plastic..

Lately my car has been cooking, the temp here in California is like around 85-90 so its not to bad what bugs me is that when I accelerate fast and drive for like 2 miles and stop I smell burning plastic so I opened my hood and smelled around and couldn't see smoke or nothing so I'm like WTF is wrong and I figured the only install I've done lately was the Cold Air Intake the stupid Injen design I have the pipe runs behind my left wheel well and that's where the filter is *sigh* so I'm feeling the pipe and its warm not enough to burn my hand or nothing and the only wires I can see making contact is the headlight wiring and maybe the ignition wire I think the one that's hooked up to a ground but nothing is burned so just to be safe I took the head light wires and taped it to the body of the car and made sure everything is clear but its still doing it!! I don't know if i should just throw on the stock pipe and take it to Toyota or what.

Maybe you have your HandBrake on.....I don't really know how to help you but theres alot of things can be wrong, it could be the Driver itself u know, no offense.

U know what, I figured it out I think. its my brakes I remember when I replaced them the guy at the shop was like "oh u don't need to lubricated the brakes".
Oh, OK. So I installed them w/ no lube and I'm thinking the friction is causing heat that makes that smell so that makes sense when I stop it smells strong.
I mean if it was in the engine area I have the vent open in my air to make sure I'd be able to smell it so I think I narrowed it down to that mistake.

Dont worry about it I get that smell all the time. At any time that you even remotely drive your car hard your engine gives that smell. I get people coming in to our dealer ship all the time about it. I asked the techs and they said it was just because how high our cars rev on the highway.
