D2 COILOVERS - Updated Pics.
I will update this thread as I gather more pictures but as of now this is what I have....
I ordered a set of D2 coilovers through my friends shop. He has them on his 240sx and his S2000 so I thought Id give them a try since no one here has them that Ive read about...
Originally the spring rates were thought to be too high for the xB. After calling around I found that there were two different sets that you can order for the xB.
D2-T022 - made for the xB but carry a very stiff spring rate of 6kg in the front and 3 in the rear.
D2-T025- this is a new model that they just started to make. This is what I have found to be common when I find an American website that offers them. This is also the set that was ordered for my car (or at least what D2 said they were sending)
This set runs a more liveable 4kg spring in the front and retains a 3kg in the rear.
The construction is ALL aluminium. The front setup is a few lbs lighter than TRD. The rear setup though, may be heavier because the D2 shock is SERIOUSLY beefier and heavier than the TRDs.
Ive seen the prices of these coilovers go from 1350-1800 bucks depending on the application. (thanks to my friend, I paid considerably less)

I was excited at this point...

Now, the interesting feature about this setup is that the adjustment for height is not like most coilover setups. Here, you do not adjust the spring perches for height. The lower strut body is threaded and you spin the lower half of the strut to raise and lower the car. This way, you never lose suspension travel making for better handling and ride.
Pictured below is the bottom of the strut all the way up. If you ran it this way on your car, you would NOT be able to drive it. It actually goes LOWER than my air suspension did.

The first time I put the front end on, I lowered the car and the front tires were tucking. I though that I had given enough threads to the suspension gods, but apparently not.
The photo below shows roughly the position that I have them on now and right now the car is dumped, ALOT. It measures about 12" from the center of the wheel to the fender.

This is an exploded view of the rear spring setup. Pretty normal for the xB.

Rear adjusters, perches and spring

The rear shock. You can sort of see in this photo (sorry my hand is covering them), take note that the upper bushings are URETHANE.

Say it with me kids 36 Way Adjustable

Another picture with flash showing the finish, the first pic is real dark since i took them in my dimly lit apartment.

2 shots of the rear setup installed. Sexy.

The shock is VERY short. I had jack the rear axle up quite a bit to get the lower bolt to go through the shock.
Thus far- still have to dial in the adjustment.
Right now I have the fronts on 33 and the rears are at 18. Somewhat bouncy here and there but this is a RACE set of coilovers and I live in a crappy paved area. I also have the rear end SLAMMED right now which limits my travel of suspension on the axle. I also havent aligned the car yet either. I running roughly 1.8 degrees of camber in the front. I can tell that the car needs to be aligned to realize the true potential of handling but its LIGHTyears better than before with TRD springs and struts. Im also running my stock wheels for winter so that is hindering my ability to push it. With my sticky tires on my 17s, it should be ridiculous. Im already taking exits at 2 times what I used to without realizing it half the time. Right now if I take a turn very quickly one of the rear wheels will lift because of the shortened shock...
other susp related mods to the car-
DC sports front bar
OTG rear spacers
Ill keep updating this post with more info that Im sure Ive left out so re read it every couple of days. Feel free to ask any questions here.

I really like the concept of the threaded strut mounts vs. threaded spring perches. The components look very nice, and extremely adjustable.
If I wasn't going with bags, I would definitely consider a set of these.

You can also order custom spring rates. I couldve added an extra set of front coils for only 90 bucks to switch out for autocross.
Thanks for the reply Brian. And I can definitely appreciate your opinion on the coil-overs vs. air suspension.
I might take it into consideration if I end up getting a box myself. I have been considering selling my '98 Prelude SH and picking up an '06 xB. If I end up doing that I may consider putting the wife's on coil-overs and mine on air.
So how is the ride with your D2 set up? If I put something like this on the wife's box it would have to be pretty compliant. The choice in spring rates is nice, but how well do the coils you chose ride? How many dampening settings do they have, and how would you rate them from softest to stiffest?
Sorry for all the questions so soon, but I'd really like to hear how well these things work.

The shock in the rear and the struts in the front have 36 settings. It seems anything below 18 is useless but I havent really had time to play with stuff since Ive been working ALOT this past week. Then again, if the car was higher up the lower dampner settings may be of more use due to different geometry of the factory suspension components. The ride is freakin great for how low it is. I sit lower than my bros integra thats on a set of Omni Power coilovers, rides better too but his susp is straight drag... stiffer than all hell.
The spring rates I have should be fine since they are 4kg and 3kg respectively. If you look at the sticky in the forum above, youll see most USDM sets are between 3- 3.5 and the JDM sets tend to be 3.5-5kg springs in the front. Japan has smoother roads
The only other set of coilovers that Ive really ridden in was KevinxB's set of Tanabe coilovers that I put his car (most people have me put springs on their car). They are a great setup for how cheap they are and the drop is nice with a set of 17s. However, if you were gonna spend around 750 for a set Id go with TEIN because theyre customer service is outstanding if you ever need anything rebuilt or warrantied.
Any more advice? feel free

Tell me about it. I had the same problems. I would always go in the store and everytime I did, i would come out to about 5 -10 people asking each other what the hell it is(small town where im from). It's funny to see a cowboy come up and be like, damn that ____ is from space y'all. Hey, im loving the coilovers, but i want to know, if I run 17's, will the coilovers be able to eat up that fender gap and sit level, i hate the raked look. I want it to tuck a little bit because i just ordered the mod wheels baliques with a phat ___ lip and probably gonna use the one ton camber shim, lemme know what u think.

The rear could be tucked without problem. I have OTG rear spacers on my car as well.
You cant tuck the front too much because the tire will hit the fender when you take turns. That is why I have about 1 fingers worth of gap now.
so what is your overall opinion
i am torm between these and the Progess kit
I like the adjustability here and constuction
really need to see pics of drop
or can u measure from the body down
sorry to be pushy but my X-mas bonus is going to coil-overs
i am anxious and just want the best for my box

The drop is WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE! Like I said, it will go as low as you want it to. All the way down in the rear will result in the stock tire being tucked about 3/8ths of an inch. The front will put the swaybar touching the unibody like air suspension will (no you cant drive it like this)
