Need help on tire size???
I just got my new wheel in today and I'm having them put on tomorrow. When I ordered them the salesman even double checked the tire size as being 215/35R18. When I saw these today they were 215/40Z18, my question is what is the difference between them both. I have been to all kinds of websites and when I do a search on my vehicle on that size 18x7.5 that is the recommended size (215/35R1
I'm sorry I just don't know anything about these things. Oh and also should I get the OTG spacers or better yet do I need them for these size tires or no?? Again I don't know anything about these kind of things. I would really apreciate anyones help here. Thanks in Advance.
Yep yep yep--too high a profile. The spacers have nothing to do with the size tire. They are designed to make your wheel be closer to the fender so the front and back are spaced the same. Also--the R and Z in the sizes refer to speed ratings. Was born and raised in Vallejo--nice to see there are some Scions there!! Good luck.
Stock tire diameter calculates out to 23.74". The JDM spec bB tires calculate out to 24.46". The 215/40/18 you were given calculates out to 24.77" diameter. This is a little over 1/4" outside of what would be considered spec. Not perfect, but not a life or death difference either.
If you can get them to swap for 215/35/18 (23.93") or 225/35/18 (24.20") you will be in a little better shape. The 40 series tires aren't going to kill you if they don't swap them out. But you will be better off getting a 35 series tire when you replace them.
Good luck.

Woah thanks for everyones help. I spoke to him today and he said that it will fit no problem because the tire is 215 as appose to a 225 so that 40 will work is this true or does he just not want to send out for 35??? Either way I'm gonna ask him to garantee his work because the invoice states and he even double check that size as to the one I need. Oh And also I wanted to know if I got the OTG spacer that would make the back equal to the front right? Thanks again for all the help guys as soon as those puppies are on I will take some pix and upload them.
