Default Candied my Tail Lights today...

Josh (WetPaint) came over today and candied my tail lights today. Just took them out and then painted the outside... looks pretty good.

Thanks again Josh!

Here's a night-shot... not the greatest, but yeah....

Anywho, I just bought a can of Testors transparent candy apple spray paint, ($4.95 inc tax @ Hobby People) then Josh took the lights off, taped off the bottom so I'd still have some white, and did three coats of spray on top of the lights (different, easier/quicker, but a chance they'll fade in long-term).

Way easier than popping them open and risking breaking glass and what not. Did an excellent job.

i would recommend clear coating them several times as well. that testors will only hold up a couple of months.

they look GREAT tho...

yeah how did you get the polished finish so nice ? i used testors and then clear coated on top. did not do any sanding or anything at all, so the finish is rough ...

Default Candied Tail lights

I painted mine with an outdoor stained glass paint. So far so good. It's seen rain, cold hot and the Turtle wax car wash at least twice a week. I'm curious to see what this winter does. The city I live in loves to use salt on the streets when it snows. Here's a few pics. I also painted and cleared the ugly white side markers.
