DIY: DME torque damper (with pics)
Bump...
Arod: After about 2 weeks of being on the car, and 2 consecutive nights at the Richmond Drag Strip, the ETD has given out at its weakest point, the tiny screw within the capsule.
With that said, DME is sending me a new one, free of charge...
Also, just a quicky, how bad of a rattle do you have with your ETD? At an idle it was slight, and with the interior fan (with AC) its horrible..

oh at least they're taking care of your problem. and about the rattling, mine will only rattle at idle. the a/c definitely doubles the rattling, but if i'm stopped, chances are that my windows are down rather than having the a/c blowing.
hahahah nah, it's bearable for me. if i open my windows and play my music at a normal volume, it gets drowned out, and i don't really notice it. with the a/c though.. man.... sounded like a tank pulled up next to me. or maybe even on top of me.
Haha, alright, so that was normal then.. i
Heres what happened, I followed the DIY (btw, great job...again), BUT i added the extra 2 black-rubber bushings in the setup at opposite ends of the connector rods. I didnt have ANY rattling noise at all. Sounded really good on the drag strip too.
So, I go nder the hood for some routine maintenance and cleaning, and inorder for me to remove the valve cover, i must remove the ETD. Well, i get it in me to shine up the ETD as well (dont ask, im military. Ive gotta shine everything). In the process i decide to take the bushings off, and shine.. etc..etc...
Put the etd back on, and it sounds like above said analogy with the tiger.

o wait i just reread your previous post. does that mean you have 4 bushings inside your etd? for me, i have the 2 white plastic spacers inside, and the 2 black bushings. and yeah, with just spacers and the 2 bushings, the etd's short and won't reach. so, the only thing my little brain could churn out was to adjust the lenght by revealing more thread on one side of the etd.
edit: I unscreed the part circled in red a bit.

ouch the last picture's the broken part, huh... well the only thing i could really think of is playing around with the nuts and stuff at the end of the etd... sorry if i'm no help. people also used rubber washers on the strut tower bolts to absorb some of the vibration.
