Racing Seat Install (Corbeau A4)
Recieved my Corbeau A4s the other day and installed them last night and today.
Whats everyone think?
here is a DIY to help people out.
Its fairly simple and if done at once should only take about an hour. (i was busy so did it when i had time)
(I am not responsible for any damage, or laws broken by messing with the airbag system)
1 Ratchet
1 14 MM socket
Start by pushing your seats all the way back. There are 2 bolts up front that need removed with a 14MM socket. Remove the two bolts shown.
Once they are removed. Push the seat all the way forward and tilt the seat forward. There are two covers in the back that need popped off. Once popped off, they reveal 3 bolts. remove with a 14 MM socket.
With the 5 bolts removed the seat is loose. DO NOT PULL IT OUT. Lean the seat back and you will see a wiring harness going to under the seat. The harnesses are for the airbag monitoring system. Disconnect the plugs.
Pull the seats out of the car.
Good time to vacume the car. i didnt because its just to hot and muggy outside.
You can see where the mounting bracket will go. On the Corbeau mounts I recieved they are labeled backwards. The passenger is really the driver side. And driver passenger side. To tell, look for the side that has the extra hole for the bolt going into the center console transmission well.
The mounts, mount to the seat before mounting to the floor. The allen wrench is provided with the seats if purchased brand new. I found mine after install tapped to the bubble wrap. Unscrew the four allens from the seat bottoms. The seats are not the same, there is one for driver and one for passenger, you can tell by the side the seat tilt is on.
Move the rails all the way forward to attach the rear bolt. Then slide all the way back to get the front bolt. Make sure they are really tight so the seat doesnt move.
In the stock seats, you will need to remove the seatbelt assembly, and the airbag harness. I didnt remove the sensor for the seat cushion yet, but I will. simply unbolt the seat belt harness with a 14 MM socket. Un-attach the clips for the harness.
Attach the seatbelt to the new seat on the spplied bracket. Run the wiring under the seat.
Put the seat in the car. Tilt the seat backwards and hook up the harness back to the car.
Resecure the seat with the 5 bolts you removed. Make sure they are secure for safety purposes.

Did you get the wide seats, or the standard? I am a little bigger of a guy and I don't want to be crammed in the seat. I would like to be comfortable while driving.
So let us know how the body fits in them.
Thanks

I bought the wides.
Deffinetly spend the extra money on them. I am 5'9" 187lbs. Not a small guy but not big. I am just comfprtable. Any tighter wouldnt be fun for daily driving.

It sits a little lower than stock. I am going to make spacers I think. The wife isnt to happy with not being able to see out the front. She is only 5'1". I am going to use some tube steel to raise the seats about an inch. Probably on my side make the front higher than rear to give a tilted seat like you can do with the stock ones.
I got the brackets used for about $100. Seats were $688 because I got the wides. And now I am going to get harnesses to use at shows. I wont use them for daily driving tho.

How much lower do they sit? I am thinking bout either getting the A4's or the CR-1's . I just don't want it to sit too low cause I am a short guy. Prolly like 5'8" or 5'9". Would u need new bolts that are longer if u run spacers?

I dont know an exact measurement of how much lower. I just know its a bit lower. You would need longer bolts if you spaced it out. Its not low enough that you cant see. But it is lower and it tight spots (parking garage today) I was worried about hitting a curb with my wheels.

I wanna get the same seats in red. I have a BSP and am trying to keep it in a red/black theme. Lemme know if those spacers help out. If they work I might get you to make me some and get them mailed to me.
