in hawaii, i'd stay away from 8000K, if u look at the headlight and compare it to other camry's, the hybrids have already a bluish tinge to it.... park next to a ce or le or xle or whatever...

that being said, between 6k and 8k, i'd go for 6.... and that's what i did put in to my dad's camry.... we've already been pulled over, and i told him to turn his headlight off... just in case, but the popo never wen see em.... so 6k is quite blue for hawaii, w/o being overly illegal.... for the most part....

i asked some of my friends, and they said it looked stock, till i told them to look @ it, then they coluld see it wasn't....

REASONS for HIDS....

u don't really save energy at all.... just a few pennys on gas, having to use less to run halogens.... but they're supposed to last 3x longer than halogens, and most halogens last 8-10 years, from my experience.... haha... so like 24 years of HIDs..... they have some that are cheaper than $300, my favorite brand is meccatune.... they have hella ballasts.... don't believe its true, but whatever, already 2 years on my xB and they're super.... i just looked on ebay and get one for like 150 +S&H.....

main reason i got hids was cus the halogens were pretty ____ty..... like i could not see crap with them (but that's cuz i'm used to HIDs right now)..... and i hate the yellow of halogens... makes me wanna puke.... so my dad was fine with me spluring on the headlights..... not much else done to it.... but yeah, i feel the HIDs make a big difference....

now have fun trying to upsell them.... and yes, hawaii does have HID laws, about if the car was meant for em, it's legal... IE the STI has it, so if u put in on an impreza, it's ok.... but like corolla, no rolla has stock HIDs, so it's illegal.... but since the headlight looks likes it should of had hids, i doubt cops are smart enuff/ or would care about it...

plus, i wen to get one safety check, and the guy said they're in the "process" of leagalizing HIDs, so whatever....

and if u do get pulled over, just be like, oh really? i didn't know... that's how my car came.... (make ur parents say that).... i doubt ull have any problems....

I don't understand why they didn't equip the Camry w/ HIDs in the first place. Well at least on the SE V6, XLE V6, and the Hybrid.

well seeing as the new xB will be having HIDs, umm... i think the new Camry's the 08s, will have em... but since the housing is kinda projector looking, i feel like toyota wanted people to just do it themselves to save the 2 grand the dealer would have charged, and they'd spend more on refining the other aspects of the car...

anyway, the lexus's have LED fogs if i'm not mistaken, which is the next generation of auto lighting, so i think we're slowly phasing out halogens, and even crappy cars will have HIDs.... awesome!

im assuming you're interested in putting HIDs in the DRL spot..... the high beams are 9005... but they will run on low power as DRL... now the thing to realize is HIDs draw a certain amount of energy, they'll flicker and burst if not fed enough, unlike halogens which will just operate dimmer, HIDs will die.... so id recommend not putting DRL HID on the new camry.... this was a major problem on corolla forums that i was on....
