I can't say I've done any comparison with the new Land Cruiser, but a girl has a new white 4-Runner here. It's awsome looking!

It looks great from every angle! Hood scoop, and fog lights really set it off.

new or used? It is an old chassis/design. . . but it still kicks butt off road. There was a motortrend(or was it car and driver) comparo where it still performed well (I think 2nd place, and it was the LX470, which is identical). If you plan to go off-road and still want luxury, the Land Cruiser is the way to go. . . but if it's primarily staying on road, I'd consider a Lexus GX470 (not that much more than a Land Cruiser) or a 4Runner, as they have recently been redesigned. I'd be scared of the depreciation hit when they replace/discountinue the Land Cruiser/LX470.

I'd also consider (non off-road) an Infiniti FX35/45

I've owned a number of Land Crushers, and they are built like a bridge girder and reliable as an anvil. Excellent as an off-road machine.

If it is NOT going to be primarily used as an off-road machine, there are probably better for the bucks deals out there than a Land Crusher.

do you plan to SERIOUSLY off-road, or just the occasional puddle? And by serious, I'm talkin about rock climbing, steep angles, and desert dunes. Most conventional SUV's will just about get you through anything, but for the extreme, you need an extreme machine (ie Land Cruiser, REAL Hummer, Jeep).

Tell him to look into some Lexus models (as they are Toyota's as well). If he's looking at a Landcruiser, he may find better value with a Lexus (like the new RX330, a VERY sweet ride).

For all the 40, 60, 80, and even 100 series LandCruiser lovers:

As well as the 4Runner fans:

I've found these sites to be informative and helpful. Anyone else got any others?

im not an SUV guy but id take a RX330 instead of a gas thirsty land cruser. Wait for the hybrid, youll be happier

the thunderclud special edition looks petty :-P

Thats a file photo of the color and not the actual limited edition thundercloud edition. heres the link for that
