but yeah Supra's are great, but the one thing you have to watch like noted above is insurance, I've known guys in their 40's to literally pay out the butt for a TT just to get one speeding ticket and get coverage dropped. I've been told they class in the same area as ferrari's and poop (if that doesn't sound dumb)
LOL @ the comparisson of a Supra and a Ferrari. Maybe at the time of the last gen. Supra's production it could be in class with old school Ferrari Berlinetta's, and other weaker V-8's, but not Testarrosa's, F-40's, F-50's etc. At least not without dropping $10,000 in the motor to start. Ferrari is a whole different class of car. The 911 turbo would've beaten a Supra TT in those times.... (not discrediting Porsche in any way, I've always found them ahead of the competition, especially over Ferrari.)

I never said I classed them in with ferrari's, I was just saying people that I know that have owned them have heard similiar things from insurance companies, like it's pretty much in the ultra high risk category.

Not true... I walked a Turbo 911 with the supra when it was close to stock form... Easily pulled a 3-4 car gap on him... Rolled up next to us at the end, and asked what we did to it because he was pushin it. I replied with "nothing much, just started with a better platform than you!"

Its more like this:

At the end of the day, I am driving a car that costs half as much as his, and mine walks it. I am also driving the best engineered toyota car that was WAY ahead of its time. You buy a car for how it feels and how it makes you feel. To me, 95% of the people that buy a porsche is just because they can say hey, I drive a porsche. To each his own...

have you been in a 911? driven one? you cant even compare the two. the ride/ handling everything is so far ahead of the supra is a joke to compare them. I have alot of respect for the supra. its a great looking car with alot of performance for the price. You said it yourself, alot of Porsche owners buy them for the badge (just like Ferrari, BMW, MB...) but in the hands of a capable driver a 911 will destroy nearly anything out there. Personally I don’t consider drag racing a measure of a car ability. any body can drive a car in a straight line. You might beat it off the line but wait until the twisties come up and your toast. Im not saying your Supra is a bad car, hell I would drive one in a heart beat (if I wasn’t 21 and car insurance wouldn’t rape me). But you cant compare to a company that has been racing a car for 40+ years. There is just to much knowledge and technology in that car.

im a huge porsche fan incase you coudlnt tell haha

Is there anything I should look out for when buying a Supra with high miles on it or is it a bad idea all together? If anyone has any words of wisdom or knows of anything available let me know!! Thanks!
Not a chance you're going to find this.

You are either going to find one for $30k with some mods and a decent ammount of miles.

Or you're going to find one for $20-25k with wellll over 100,000 miles, and then you'll end up paying a few grand every year for the repairs on your $25,000 10 year old car.

I second this. Porsche is the greatest sports car company, and the greatest car ever made. It beats everything in handling, braking distance, 0-60, etc.

For the guy who walked a "Porsche", what year was the turbo? If it was and early 90's turbo, it's possible you stayed with it, but 97' and up it would've killed you, KILLED you. There is no substitute for a Porsche especially on a track. The Skyline is considered to be the Supra's biggest rival in Japan. 911's have always had one up on the Skyline! This means alot considereing these are two top notch Japanese sports cars.

Back to my man who loves Porsche. I swear to myself that one day I will own a 911 GT3. Porsche's are an engineering marvel, and it's always good to see when someone can distinguish a real driver's car from the substitutes. The Supra is a great car with alot of potential (as far as modding goes), but with a Porsche the potential is all in the driver's hands....
