Scionlife Beta 2.0!
So? I spend way more time on here than you do!
First you have to get on this list...

After that, it's all downhill...
So... How does one get on that list?

The Message button is blinking... like i have a new message or notification of some sort.... when i hit the home page its blinking every time... even if i check and read any new PM's or friend requests
and now you can lable me a loser..... i assumed all my old messages that were moved over marked 'read' from years ago... were still marked 'read'... they werent... they were all 'unread' for whatever reason.... now the blinky light is gone....lol
my bad...

When trying to view a link that was posted as an answer to an electronic problem, I got only this message......

RC-PILOT, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Yes.
There are definitely major problems with legacy links in a couple hundred thousand posts with embeded links here in the New ScionLife.com
From what I understand (Jump right in here and correct me, Adrian or Mike!) the topic numbers and post numbers should have stayed the same, but the calls to the software's interface changed, and the old format doesn't say the right things to the new software.
I suspect there are a number of things that could be done to correct this problem - and it should have been expected. Two top choices MIGHT be to translate on-the-fly when an old format is used, or to take the time to have a script go through the database looking for scionlife.com links then translating and replacing them.
Either way, a legacy link that looks like this...

Needs to be made to look like this...
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260607
in order for the new software to understand what is wanted.

EDIT: WELL, I CHECKED AND I'M WRONG - IT LOOKS LIKE THE TOPIC/THREAD NUMBERS MAY HAVE CHANGED IN THE MOVE, AND IF THAT'S THE CASE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS (POSSIBLY MILLIONS) OF BROKEN LINKS THAT ARE PROBABLY UN-FIXABLE.

So, I tried to post in the 1st gen Suspension forum and I got this message:

I really do not like the new forum. I used to spend so much time on SL just browsing and occasionally posting but now, everything is so jumbled and hard to get to, it makes me not want to even try... And believe me, I have spent some time trying to figure the new layout out and have come to find that this really isn't intuitive at all. The old SL just made sense how everything was linked and designed. Maybe this will get fixed in time or with the release of the actual SL 2.0 ... Let's hope so!
On a more positive note though, the new SL is much faster so thank you for that! I am sure I will continue to find more positives but my initial impression of the new site was not good.

We are working on this, any legacy phpbb url with "garbage" after the threadid is not being processed:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=260607&highlight=
if you remove the "garbage" it will work; so we are working on automating this:

I agree, do not like the new forum at all.
Problem 1: Signed out constantly.
When I initially log in, I see this:
Lil_Deuce_tCoupe, Welcome to the new Scionlife. Don't forget to check all your settings out in your User CP
Feedback, questions, comments are welcome HERE
When I click on either the User CP (to supposedly find 'my posts') or the HERE link, I am then logged out, and see this:
Unregistered, Welcome to the new Scionlife. Don't forget to check all your settings out in your User CP
Feedback, questions, comments are welcome HERE
Message
Also, after login, clicking on the HOME icon in the upper left corner will also log me out, and give me the "UNREGISTERED" greeting. I'm sure it happens on other pages too, but I'm sick of trying to even negotiate around.
Problem 2. If I can get to the 'Subscribed Threads' in the User CP, which is supposed to be equivalent to "my posts" on the former site, there are only 3 there; I was subscribed to > 250 before the change.
I understand there may be some 'bugs' with a change like this, but come on. Very disappointed.

You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- <LI class=smallfont>You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again. <LI class=smallfont>You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

This site is almost impossible for me to use now.
There are extra steps involved for so many small things that aren't necessary. When I want to see my posts and responses, I used to be able to click "My Posts" and walla, a nice clean easy list. Now I have to check how many days I want to go back, which only takes me to the search window anyway, so there's more clicking there.
And what resolution is this optimized for? My business laptop is a 13" screen running 1280x800 and I'm lucky to see two posts per scroll. I have to scroll SOO much now just to read simple things.
Is there anyway to compress each reply in threads guys? There's a lot of wasted space top and bottom that to me makes this forum seem less sophisticated than it used to. I am really sorry to bash on the new site, for I know you guys are trying. But just all seems like a big step back for me which I wasn't expecting.
