Default Whats with quoting rules

I've noticed a lot more so than ever, everyone quoting the scionlife rules and/or referring to scionlife rules in a lot of threads. I ask, what is up with that? I'm not saying i dislike the rules, they are pretty typical for most car forums.. But why do people feel the need to continue posting about them when site admin. has an entire section on the website dedicated to all forum rules.

If someone is getting out of hand, thats why we had mods and admin for. And in most cases, theres no need to bring them up. If the thread is getting that out of hand, threads are locked or deleted.

Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone could tell me whats up with this. Its starting to get annoying, its like overnight people became rule police.

I think its just because the lack of following the rules. Sure they are there, but really how many ppl even read them? A vast amount of ppl coming to this forum, are from others, where the rules are different. So they bring there habits over & sometimes those habits go against the rules here. We could post a simple link to the rules page, but there is no way we would know of the person would look at them or not. So by quoting them, it at least puts it in front of there face.

True.. people are going to do what they want. Its just not possible to stop others from doing what they do.. unless of course you somehow make them loose access to the site.. other than that... it wont stop.

, well i understand the fact sometimes people have to be reminded. I just think the whole quoting/referring to the rules are out of control.

Virtually all car forums follow basic rules, and these basic rules are scionlife rules so really, there should be no need to read the rules unless you are a complete newbie all together..In my opinion the rules here are common sense, but thats just me.

And hey, run naked if you will..But it might be a little chilly.

I think everyone is reciting and pointing to the rules constantly because those ppl are trying to get on the good graces of the "mods" and "super mods" in hopes they someday may get voted upon to be a mod.

Im more than likely wrong but it sounds like a good estimated guess.. LOL...

I'll probably get in trouble for saying this but, Ive also noticed that certain ppl have privledge too and that alone can make ppl react and repost rules and go on and on bc everyone wants the same rights.

For instance: there is a double thread on SL exactly down the title words...NO ONE said a word and as a matter of fact, a few mods posted on it and also posted on the other one as well.

Just like in life, its "who" you know I guess.

Quoting rules...I don't understand it either. I hate the joy enduced cheezeheads that do it. Coming into a topic about hamburgers or religion or whatever the contents and telling me I should watch my words for I may offend somebody. Blah. And then you tell me if I don't like the rules to go to another forum. Blah. And then you quote me on how I spelled 'anminal' wrong. Blah. Off-Topic should be an exception by allowing exactly what it means...off topic conversations, no matter how off topic they may be. Things can still be off topic and still not out of hand. Family friendly...come on. We all know thats what NSFW is for. You can't even drive till your like 16 anyway, by then your sneaking into R rated flicks. Blah. Please...dicuss, don't argue. Blah. I'll call ya a ninny if I want to. Lets have a debate! I know a mod so I got a sweet Christmas card and all you apes that didn't can suck it.
Have a great Christmas holiday everybody.

its just a reminded since a lot of people dont check the rules and dont abide by them at all.

the mods job is to keep things running and keep things clean. if someone gets out of line, i appreciate it personally when another member can point out the rules and diffuse a situation i would have had to deal with.

and LV, about the thread "Got lip" I assume you're refferring to, the reason I left it and didnt lock is that Nilo is showing off his personal car and its to the regional forum. if he wants to put it there too, hes more than welcome. hes showing off his car, and probably doesnt want it thrown in with tons of other cars with big lips. double posting refers to having exact same info in two diff forum areas. thats why i permitted it to run. PM me with any more questions.

and the threads will remain family friendly, even with NWS titles. if you were a big time advertiser, i wouldnt want to spend money on a site where cussing and other things of that nature happens. thats just me though.

Wow, and all i cared about was quoting.. I agree with the rules, i just don't see why so many have to quote them... After that, everyone all of a sudden comes here with tons of things they hate...

EDIT: For what is said beyond my words i have no control over.

I find it funny how some people post rules to put others in place or to remind them of the rules, but also 'break' the rules they are posting up. I am guilty of this too, but am trying to do a better job of policing myself, such as keeping things 'on topic', but some people will 'remind' us of the rules and do the exact opposite in another thread. I guess all I can say to those that 'quote' the rules is 'Practice what you preach".

To get back on topic, it is a good thing for the Mods that people do this to try to keep things running smoother WITHOUT getting the Mods involved or making a ton of work for them. I don't see a problem with it...other than those that bring up the rules and break the same ones as well.

As stated before, I'm guilty of breaking a few myself, but am getting better at not doing so.

I agree. Maybe this is what mostly gets on my nerves, i mean no one is perfect. Everyone has at some point or another broken forum rules. Some of these kids act like they have never done anything.

This thread has gotten quiet, but I am going to add my two cents before I lock it up.

I don't want ScionLife to turn into a site that is not fun to visit... and posts referencing the rules, telling people to search, etc... is not FUN! It's nice when people provide some sort of answer, and then suggest a search, or explain a rule in a non-offensive manner. Let's keep the mood light and the attitude friendly, that's all I ask!
