Default TB Bypass Kit

Found this online, and was wondering if any of you guys have done it.

6-8 HP for like $15?

I don't know if it actually works, but I personally wouldn't do it because it might void the warranty... and 4-8 hp is not worth voiding the warranty.
Also, you get what you pay for. It might be more of a burden than a good thing in the long run.

But I got to tell you, that when I first saw the topic title, I thought of the bad TB infection starting... a bypass kit for that... woot!

yeah it sounds cool but like he said, I wouldn't try it. They didnt even dyno it on a tc by the dyno sheet listed. It's a 99 camaro. Probably a rip off.

Dear god, these are still around? For a time, this was "THE" thing to do to the older GM 2.8/3.1L V6s. The theory behind this is that by removing the "hot coolant" from the small passage in the throttle body, intake air temperatures will be reduced. If that nets 1 HP, I'd be surprised. If the above setup nets 6-9, I'll run across the country doused in corn syrup wearing nothing but shoes and a Nixon mask.

Has anyone ever seen the amount of coolant that passes through the throttle body on a 2AZ-FE? On the GM V6's, you'd be lucky to get half of a shot glass from the coolant passage. All the coolant is there to do is provide a small measure of heat when the engine is cold, similar to what a choke's thermostat would do on a carbureted engine.

My $.02 on this "mod": If you have the engine out for any reasons, buy a $.50 piece of hose, make a loop to the two passages and cap it off. It's not even worth the time messing with it, since the gains will be miniscule, if there are any at all.
