Hello, I'm new here and I've been thinking it's time to start lookin for things to do to my XD. I got it back in August and I love it, it's a bad-@ss little car. So anyways, I know Scions are known for customizing and modding, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really new to all of this.

On a side note, I'm going to the So Cal Micro Meet this Sunday, so it would be cool to maybe meet some people....

Oh yay!! I'm going to the SoCal Micro Meet too! What color did you get? Did you have anything in mind you'd like to do to your car? Or are you just completely lost in what can be done?

Gosh, I got mine lowered (for free!) and it looks really good. My car is on Tanabe NF210 springs which is like.. 1" in the front and 1.5" in the back, give or take some though. I'm not the best with measuring.

Next I really want rims I have a lot that I've bookmarked but I just need the money lol. Probably going to buy 16" rims then when the tires go I'll get 17's.

After that.. I have no clue. There isn't that much out there thats pre-made for our xDs yet so we (those not modding inclined) are kinda stuck. Oh and I have tinted windows. Doesn't make me fast but now people won't be staring at me! Hah!

 

depends on what you really want in your car. do you want hate steelies, then get some proper rims. like attacking corners, get some lowering springs and struts with a set of front and rear sway bars. want an aggressive tone, get a cold air intake and exhaust. like listening to your music at deafening volumes with teeth chattering bass, do some audio first.

this is how i prioritize
looks, do you want the car to look nice, and others to look at it longingly? put some time and money into looks. downside is that looks don't equal driving enjoyment (for me) and people to mess up nice rides sometimes.

suspension, i love taking corners are speeds other cars can't, but if you have nasty roads and bad approach and departure driveways where you live, it is a pain.

intake/header/exhaust, nice to open it up and get some ponies, you like that growl. but if your sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, you can't really use it.

ICE, if your sitting in traffic, it can be nice to have a good stereo to listen to. the downside is that people like to smash and grab, and subwoofer boxes take valuable cargo space.

oh yeah, and don't forget tint, gotta get tint!

 

To ChelsDS: I gotta Magnetic Grey and I call it the Rhino hehe (that may be a temporary name for now) I'm assuming yours is silver? I'll be arriving with my friend with his versa...how could I spot you if we meet up??

As for what exactly I want to do, definately get tinted windows (that'll probably be first), and then mostly stuff for looks, stuf that makes it look shnazzy lol. Air intake and exhaust would be something I'd get too and better sound of course. The stock sound system isn't loud enough for me hehe. Not too sure about lowering it though, I'm a tall guy and so it's already low enough for me....Honestly though, I'm lost on all this stuff, this is my first car I'd ever consider modding...so what are some good companies/sites/places to go to for all this stuff?

 

I'm probably going to be the only other xD owner there You can probably spot me by the fact I have some pinksqaud decals on my car, I'm a red head and uh.. dark tint?


Personally I want to get a different exhaust on my xD but the one thats out there right now (the only one I know of) is the TRD sport muffler and that goes for $400! zoltiz (another silver xD owner) said he managed to get one at a really good price on eBay, but I haven't seen any cheap ones and I check practically everyday.

I'd like to improve my sound system, but I don't know how to go about it. I'd like to be able to shake the car but keep it at a comfortable level and of course have great sound. Thats as much as I know

Instead of lowering, maybe you should raise it! Haha, kidding of course. Though that would look very different.

I hope to be getting my xD soon. If I can get the dealer to give me a good discount and take my trade.

The first thing to do will be an alarm (since I haven't seen any other xDs in the area), then save for a sub and rims. Which one first depends on how much I can stand the default speakers. They gotta be better than earbuds or Sennheiser headphones, right?! Rims would be sweet.

Dunno what else after that...LED taillights...sway bar...'sport' muffler (fits the AT?) & intake...

 

The xD is really fun when you add the springs, shocks and rear sway bar. If you are looking to save a few bucks though and want to notice the biggest difference I'd definitely get the rear sway bar, it really tightens up the rear end on this thing!

 

I'm in the same boat as Uhmused I'm completely new to modding (And scions in general), but my xD is just begging for improvements. I had it lowered when I first got it, but don't want to get it put any lower due to the potholes around this area.

What I want most is a nice Subwoofer. After that I want my engine to rumble, then I'll focus on looks. I don't want a car that looks better than it actually performs.

If anyone has any recommended online stores/catalogs/brands they could list, I'm sure both of us would appreciate it.
