Default How bad is the glare on your touch screen HU?

I have the Pioneer 900BT in my RS6 and it seems like I can never see the damn screen durring the day. Today I was driving my daily driver trying out a new Garmin portable. I could see the screen perfectly even in full sunlight. I don't know if it was the position of the screen or the viewing angle or whatever.

I'm not all that thrilled with the 900BT so I was looking at other HUs but I don't want to have the same problem with the glare. I'm looking at the Kenwood 9140 as a possiblity. If glare is a consistant problem, I might re-form the dash to angle the HU twords the driver so I have a more straight on view of the screen.

So, what HU are you running, and how is the screen glare durring the day?

Thanks for any input!

I have no glare probs at all on my Kenwood unit, but, my xB is a gen1 so dash placement could make a difference? If your screen is adjustable for tip, tipping it down a little may help. My Kenwood is tippable but square with the dash works perfect for me.

Had another thought as well. I have factory tint on my front side windows, this will also tend to reduce screen glare. Darker tint would be even better for this.

Well, I just finished installing my AVIC - F90BT, the Premier version of the factory navigation unit. I drove in the morning and in the late evening. I did get some glare at sunset, but other than that is was very glare free.

Thanks for the input guys. I think the first thing I'm going to try is to re-drill the mounting brackets so the HU sits flush with the dash. Who knows, the extra 1/2" of distance might help.

Kenwood 9140 has reverse tilt...
But on xB2, it's pretty much screen is verticle, so you'll have least amount of glare problem.
Worst come to worst, just reverse tilt it...
