so my question to you guys is how do you exactly know if your coil is blown. im riding on tein ssp's and whenever i go over a bump ONLY THE RIGHT SIDE front wheel coil makes a sound like gas or air is coming out. Is that normal? I checked to see if there was oil leaking but no leakage from the coil itself. Any help is helpful. thanks!
my general rule of thumb for figuring out if something is supposed to do or sound like this is if they all do it the same. so if i hear a suspension noise on one side of the car that the other side doesn't, i assume there is something wrong with that side.
Tofu, to check to see if your damper is blown you can do a simple little trick.
With the car on flat ground go the corner of the car (the one that you're trying to check) and push down pretty hard with all your body weight on that corner. If the car starts bouncing for longer than a single up/down cycle your shock is wearing out or blown. Make sure to check other corners of the car as well to see how all the corners react. Any variation probably means blown or leaking damper.
As Ack said before, if you're seeing any kind of fluids seeping out for leaking from anywhere on the actual unit you're definitely going to need to have the damper rebuilt.
My KW V2s sound similar to what you're describing over all bumps, but it's consistent across all 4 corners and I've got a mostly stripped interior so it's very easy to hear.
If you want me to take a look at it sometime just let me know and I'll give it a once over for ya.

nevermind guys its not blown. i actually found out that its the top part hitting something against my strutbar. No bounce at all or any movement when pushed hard either.
Which exact part of the coilover is intersecting the strutbar? I can't imagine any one part of the coilover that should reach high enough up to hit anything on the bar. (Although I don't know which strutbar you have and I don't know what the Teins look like at the top)
Can you take a picture for us?
If it can wait, I'll bring some of my tools to the meet on the 30th so we can fix it if needed.
