A year ago, around here in Eastern PA, xB's turned heads. You might see one a week, and nobody knew what they were.
Saturday I was running some errands and in the course of a couple of hours I saw five different xB's, just in my little local suburban area. And downtown where I work, I usually see several during rush hour as I leave the city.
So is your xB still getting reactions from people on the street? Do you live somewhere that xB's are common, or is yours still the only one around? And if you're no longer unique, do you miss it?

Don't get as much reaction as I used too, but there is still no other car even close to the xB - so it is still unique in that sense.

Like any car its going to lose its popularity with time. Although I still get many a look but modding always helps your car stand out from the normal xBs. Also debagging I find to be fun cause then some people are really lost :)

It also depends a little on where you live. I live in South-Central PA and around here, Scions are everywhere. I could probably drive to the local Wal-Mart right now and find at least 6 in the parking lot at this moment. Last week however, we were in Chicago. What was really strange was there we were, in a major metropolitan area, and I bet I didn't see 5 Scions ALL WEEK! City or suburbs! It was weird.

Bought my XB last Aug. and it was the only one in my area, in fact I had to drive 2 hours to get it. Now ther are 2 dealers within 1/2 hour from where I live (Bloomsburg, PA) there are only about 5 XBs and 2 XAs in my area that i see often so I still get the looks when people see it, but I have a feeling that there will be many more in my area now that the dealers ae so close.

I went to Ikea one day, and put a leather love seat into the back of my XB. Immediately someone ask me about the car. He said he is always wondering about how much the car can handle and how far I can drive. I met at least two guys asking me how it is felt at 80mph. It seems a lot of people still have little idea about the car. Maybe they won't stare at the car like before, but that doesn't mean it's no longer unique.

It's like anything new At first it turns heads then it does'nt ..............
When my wife got her P.T. everybody looked then there were thousands of them, then she traded that in for a Magnum it was the only one around Tucson for about 3 mos. now they are evryhwere !!!!!
Make your XB stand out with MODS and people will still notice, maybe not strain their necks as much as they used too .................
Still unique here in Tulsa OK but more common than they were even four months ago when I got mine. But I get more smiles from this than anything else....

I'd just repeat most of what was already said. I was the 1st one in my town. Heads turned (alot). Now 1 yr later there's more, not a lot but more. No so much head turning.
I do still have people asking me about it. In parking lots, gas stations etc. They ask me how I like it etc. To me, that translates to, "Hey, I've SEEN these things around and they're <insert: funny looking, cool, weird, neat, awesome etc.> but I haven't ever TALKED to an owner so tell me, how do you like it?"

Three xB's live in my apartment's parking lot. That's out of maybe 300 or so OTHER cars.
That makes them fairly common in this limited area - 1 percent of the vehicle population. :)
The xB is still very unique in this market; There is nothing else like it.
Now that there are more of them, though, the "startle factor" when someone sees one is less - they have probably seen at least one other, so they don't do the double take and stare as much.
Some still stare, some still point, but I think that is less because they don't know what the heck it is, but because there are honestly interested in the vehicle. :)
I especially like the reactions of pre-teen and young teen boys with their parents as they point and gesture and jabber trying to explain to their parents what they are looking at. They are obviously excited.
We are becoming more common, but are still unique.

The FACT that you can go to Parking Lot and PICK OUT 20 OTHER SCIONS ? If you can do that in ANY good size Parking Lot with a Couple of Hundred Different Cars , says that they ARE STILL UNIQUE !
And to KEEP it UNIQUE with YOU , DO THE MODZ . It can be a Work in Progress , OR a TOTALLY NEW xB to YOU with Different MODZ .
Mine  1 DAY will be a WOODY , and before , during or after I might get MOONS and/or WHITE WALLS . TO START WITH .
I just did a WAX , and that brought more looks . So this car wont take much to make it NEW and a LOOKER :eyes:
PLUS , there will ALWAYS be people who LOVE or HATE the BOX , so people WILL ALWAYS LOOK for 1 reason or another .

Here in ATL I really dont see that many. In my apartment complex for example there are 5 Scions including mine... 2 xAs, a tC, and 2 xBs-- my camo, and some RS 2.0 with PA tags. When I see an xB around these parts, its either a delivery vehicle, or someone I know from the club.:) I went to pep boys yesterday for some RainX, and came out to see a family in the minivan parked next to me standing outside talking about my ride.

I get a lot of curious onlookers wherever I go... I very rarely ever see another xB in this part of the country.
Last week, a couple from NYC came up to Maine to visit my wife and I. He also has a yellow xB, and he & I started exchanging PM's and emails on the forum about a month ago. He had a vacation coming up and he and his wife decided to visit us... we had a great time visiting & touring the Maine coast.
One evening they were behind my wife & I, as they followed us to our house. We had to stop at a red light, and on the corner there was an outdoor cafe, and we got stares from all the customers. I heard one of the customers say, "That's it....I am gonna quit drinkin', now I'm seeing double."

My parents live up the white mountains of arizona near Show Low. The population where they live is about 5000 people. Almost everyone drives big trucks or small cars. I parked at the Bashas' in town and layed it out, when I had bags on it. When i came back outside, there were about 6 gomers walking around it sayin, "this damn car is on the ground, how does it drive? The glass says it is made by Toyota, but what the hell is it?" I explained what it was and they were amazed by the interior and the overall looks of the car. I actually had someone ask if I was going to lift it for the snow and such. Anyway, in smaller areas they aren't as common, most people have never even heard of scion or seen the commercials, but that's why you need to change stuff up a bit. I've already changed my taillights a few times by now.

I just got mine a few weeks ago, but i get questions from family, friends, coworkers. I see a couple a day here in DFW, TX. but, then, they stand out more. if i try to look for, say, a hyndai tiburon or something, i see several of them in a day too, but i wouldn't notice if i weren't looking. The box kinda forces you to notice it.
this is a good thing, because people will percieve a saturation before there actually is a high volume glut.

I have a Solar Yellow 2.0 release and I've got it decked out with some of the symbols of my generation, "Yellow Submarine" including having license plates with the word "Submarine" on it. Even though I live in an area where there are plenty of Scions including other xBs (and might I add two other yellow xBs) but the Yellow Submarine theme still gets questions, many thumbs-ups on thehighway and lots of smiles. Between the unusual profile, the bright unique shade of yellow and the Beatles theme througout, it does get much reaction to the tune of 2 - 5 times a day that I notice.
Let's face it kids! The under 30 set can't have all the fun.

The xB has no uniqueness here, there are tons of them on the roads everywhere. This place is just about crawling with them, as is most of SoCal. Xb's are everywhere.
The sales lady called me today. My xB will be here in ten days. Tomorrow I'm going over to talk to them about some Bling Bling for it. Fog lights, rear spoiler, cool tail lights, carbon fiber trim, FR-7 Piaa wheels, custom aluminum grill. You know silly stuff.
For some reason I can't explain it on no less than ten, yes I said ten, test drives, for something with little power and that looks like a toaster on wheels
I had a grin from ear to ear every time.
So it looks like I'll be yet another face in the crowd!
Ciao,
TimothyNot to change the subject... All that stuff you want to get from the dealer is available and much cheaper online. Plus the money you save you could pay someone to install it. JMOWhy jethro b? Because I can!! And this dealer needs to stay in business. They were the only ones to answer all my silly questions and put up with me on all the test drives. Yes I could get all the stuff cheaper on line and install them myself but WTF, their is something said for good customer service.

All I did was try to help YOU and you jumped Down my throat. If this is the type of person YOU are, maybe YOU should go find a site that condones that type of behavior. We really don't need it on here. For the most part this is a very friendly community of people that LOVE SCIONS and also like to SAVE MONEY. If you had bothered to hang out a while you would see what this site is all about and would not go shooting off YOUR MOUTH. GOOD DAY

NO MORE YELLING! Ok, back to the topic. I have an xB and the Element down the street is feelin the heat. No, thats not a song. For real, the xB is the modern day VW bus, even today, people still see them as unique and our xB's are no different. xB's are the front edge of present day icons.

I see a couple xB's every day.
That's nothing compared to the glut of Elements, MINIs, and Beetles.
I think there are more tC's than xB's in town.

It will always be s super practical fun vehicle at a good price that says I don't care what you think!
I’m either ambivalent or apathetic. I don’t know which and I don’t care!
