Default non-CARB to CARB

Ok this isn't really pretaining to power mods but it does pretain to the side effects of installing power mods. Ok lets suppose you are from a state with NO CARB laws and you were driving to California for vacation. Can the local law enforcement agencies give you a ticket or impound your ride? I would figure no but I hear yes. Anyone know a precise answer to this? I live in Utah however I have family in california and would like to bring my TC over there once its turboed and such but dont want to get harassed or get my ride impounded over there.

I can see why people say no but i believe it states that it is your responsibility to abide by the laws of the other states. For instance, some states don't allow radar detectors. If you get caught with one and your from out of state its not an excuse. For you, I don't think it would matter as long as you abide by the regular rules. Like don't reckless drive or anything or speed. Just abide by the law and I don't see why the popo would bother you.

They have that over here. In MD, it's not illegal to have a radar detector but as soon as you cross into VA, there are HUGE signs posted saying "Radar Detectors Illegal Here". Even though I'm from Maryland, VA cops can and will take my (if I had one) radar detector and will fine me.

Just because you are from another state, doesn't mean you don't have to follow their laws.

i wouldnt be afraid to bring your car if its registered out of state and you can prove out of state residency (drivers license perhaps).

my friend from Las Vegas brings his car out to LA on visits. he has super-dark super-illegal (in california) tint. he's been pulled over here, but never ever issued a ticket. just warnings.

its okay to bring a federal emissions certified vehicle (which is different from california certified) into california if youre visiting, but illegal to own it in this state.

if youre caught street racing, i'm sure the car will be confiscated regardless of where its from.
