Default Quick help on A/F Removal

Ok, Im in the process of removing the A/F on the car and after a can af wd40 and all the strength i have left in my body, i cant get the damn thing off. I personally think its cross threaded. Now, does anyone know of any tricks to taking this thing off and not breaking it? If it does break, do you know how much a new one is? Thanks

IF you are refferring to the 02 sensor, then first make sure everything is cooled off, dont do it right after the engine has run. Then use some good quality penetrating oil and let it sit for a good amount of time. I also reccomend getting an 02 sensor socket to remove it. It is a very deep well (which helps keep you straight on it) with a notch for the sensor wire. Then work it loose.

Yea, i have the tool, however, i losened it about 1/2 a turn, and then it wouldnt budge. Now it wont go either way and i turned the car on maybe to expand the metal a bit, and the CEL came on. I am so ____ed right now. How much is a new one?

Lucky boy. I just purchased a new one instead of eating up the old one. Figue I'll have a spare when I get bored and go to town on it. $230 later...

^ Yea I got it out but its no good. I called chris from weapon r and he said that a couple of tc's they have done were crossthreaded from factory. My cars sittin till thursday untill i get the money for the new one however. It costed you 230? Is that just for the sensor, is is that for the sensor and everything so that there is no splicing what so ever? Cause ill buy it tommorow, the guy at the parts dep. told me it was like 350-400 bucks. thanks

The wideband sensor in the front exhaust manifold costs ~$230 at the dealer. Do not let them charge you more, just go to another dealer if they don't want to sell it reasonably. Also do not give them your VIN # (some dealers want to flag cars in their systems if they know you put aftermarket parts in).

Your last bet if the dealer wants to mess around is ZPI, they sell it for ~$195 plus shipping.

...and yeah, quite a few tC's have cross threaded sensors. It's too bad they used an expensive proprietary wideband and f'ed up the install at the factory on more than a handfull of them. Were the proud and unfortunate few. I just hate how much parts cost on new cars.

I can get used set of irons for a 13B rotary (the better part of an equivalent rotary engine block) for the price of this sensor.

No, comes ready to plug right in. It's the same oem part you took off, connector and all.
