Default Increasing Engine and/or Muffler Sound

Is there any inexpensive way that I can increase my engine or muffler sound without getting an exhaust? I recently installed an Injen intake but that let me down. The sound wasn't what I wanted, but I guess I will try to convert to short ram later on. Thanks.

I got a custom axle back made at a local muffler shop for 75 bucks including the muffler. I'm sure almost any shop can do the same. So i don't really think it's neceesary to drop $300+ on something you can get for under $100. Just my 2 cents.

for real! what muffler did you use? what about the tip? all the ones from borla are around 75, 80 bucks! almost the cost of the muffler itself!

They were doing a muffler closeout at Meineke and they did the whole for that great deal. To tell you the truth and don't know what brand it is but its give a real good sound. i'll try to get pics soon.

sorry i'm a noob at this, but what effect, if any, does removing the axleback have on the car? and how hard is it to remove or if decided, to put it back on?

it's just a few bolts and hangers... not too hard to remove.. but i'll warn you now... it's LOUD... and according to a dyno somewhere on this site.. i think it said something about 5 hp and 4lb torque gain... or something...

oh yeah... it's most likely illegal.. if not, just cause of how loud it is.... but i've heard mustangs and whatnot louder... sure..

so it's illegal cuz it's too loud?

and so i guess i can basically put take/put back the axleback whenever i want right? less than 30 minutes to do?

yeah... basically.. takes a few minutes to do so... a little wd40 on the rubber hanger thingys help too when you're removing them.. and then of course either a lift or jack.

most of my friends only do this when they are running on the track... really, that's the cheapest thing you can do... but i would suggest actually buying an exhaust eventually.
