ok first, i have a intake, header, exhaust, lightened pulley. i dont know what it is lately but i keep running into CR-Vs that wanna race me. and the thing that ____es me off is that i keep losing lol.
i mean technically i wasnt really racing was just trying to get ahead of a CR-V to get on the onramp to the expressway, we were both at a stop light and i gave it good go and i was surprised when he pulled ahead of me fairly easily and since the section of expressway turned uphill i decided not to pursue for fairly obvious reasons.
earlier this week i was on the highway going about 90-95 and a CR-V was tailing me for about 15 minutes staying right on my tail following me thru my lane changes. then all of a sudden i guess she got tired of playing with me (thats right "she") and pulled ahead of me at what was probably 110.
my question is would it have made a difference if i had a supercharger or would the xb still get smoked by a CR-V?

do you have an auto?? that could really make the difference.

^ Yup, what he said. . .
There's a huge difference in performance between the manual and the auto (I'm not debating the superiority of either, just stating a fact).
If you are a manual, it wouldn't take much to be able to beat a CR-V. . . auto, I don't know. But modified for modified, you can't beat the Honda motors. There are far too many options available. . .
Don't feel bad, an Odyssey would spank you. It may be heavy and big, but they've got a 240HP motor. I've seen it happen, and it's happened to me.
Be happy beating Civic DX's with fart cans. . .

yeah the cr-v is strectched cive chasis with a tsx engine the 2.4l i-vtec i drove an auto once and was shocked as to how quick it really was. i honstly don't think you'd have a chance with boost even. its just flat out got more displacement.

says on the honda website that it has 156 hp and 160lb-ft torque. should be on par with a supercharged box since it has simliar power specs but i'm thinking a s/c would take the CR-V simply because of the weight. i;m just a bit surprised it was able to pull like it did at 100 considering it has a simliar boxy shape. man i just hate getting smoked by that ugly thing.
btw yes i do have an auto :(

like most other honda engines the i-vtec engines open even more with the higher revs so i'd imagine at 100 its wasn't exactly low in rpm.
you also have to rember with a supercharger your only getting about 20hp if that at full boost and thats really gonna help in the lower end of the power range.

Well since the supercharger makes max boost at redline, you'll be seeing the biggest gain in the upper power range, and not at the low end of the power spectrum.

you loose power at high rpm and turbo is better on high end.

dyno graphs please? maybe you're right. maybe i'm right. Lets see a dyno with a supercharger installed.

IMHO. Even with a sc a CRV would eat your lunch. You may fare better against one that is an awd than a fwd, but again I think you'll still loose.

Pretty funny how the RAV has changed over the last few years. With its new V6, its one of the quickest products Toyota has to offer. Was rated as the quickest Toyota when it was introduced!
