Default Is it just me...

When did this Form turn into "What have you raced with your tC?"? I like hearing about street races as much as the last guy, but how many threads do we need? Isn't anyone doing Auto-X? or drags? Road course anyone?

I'm getting bored with Street Racing, so all my new vids will be that at the drag strip or some other form of motorsport. Jester plains on AutoX'ing his ZPI Stage 1 car when completed. He has a SCCA license and has been to racing school. I'm sure vids from his runs will be by way of me...

The type of racing you choose to do says a lot about the driver.

Stick 95% of these jokers that street race out on an autox course or road course and they would end up in a tire-wall or spend 10 minutes chewing up the sidewalls of their tires on a 50 second course.

You will notice that I didn't say 100% because I used to be one of them, but the more I autoxed, went to track days, went to driving schools and more or less figured out what is involved with real racing, I figured out that street racing was just and easy way to end up in the newpaper.

Bottom line, there is no logical reason to race in the street when there are more legal ways than ever to get your racing fix.

gotta do something to pass my two hour commute to and from school on the weekends. to me, the interstate is a huge road coarse. and on the way back to work from deliveries. kinda like initial d! lol. i never run full bore, i leaves myself a huge amount of room for error, and only when the roads are nice and clear. i never crash because i'm driving too fast, instead i am lucky enough to be hit by drunk drivers trying to pass in a no passing zone while on my way home from work with my gf the night before easter while going the posted speed limits.

i used to drive my tc slower than the 95 ford explorer i left for it, but i gradually practiced and probed it capabilities on open roads late at night to be well aware of what the car can and can't do. i know it sounds like an oxymoron to try and sound like a responsible street racer, but we are not all reckless out of control freaks. i'll either pass on racing down the road with another car, or i'll let someone win if i'd have to do something reckless that would endanger other cars on the road not involved. also, when your racing, you make great time.
besides, not everybody has convient location relative to a track, can put a roll cage in they're car, go to/afford/ have time for driving school. instead of calling it street racing, call it comparative driving in a public setting.

I would also accept: "I don't street race, I speed...competatively." and "I don't street race, I do time trials, from wherever I leave, to wherever I go."

I'd love to get on a track. That's why I'm complaning, mostly. Cause I wanna be able to come on here, and find out things about actual autosports. And the tC vs. ____ threads are cool, but it would be better imo to have one of them, or another that is on the track.

AutoX is awesome. I did it quite a few years ago with my '79 Z-28, 4 speed. I still love watching those videos. I can't wait to get to AutoX my tC, but between work, 3 kids, etc. there isn't much time. But I will do it again as soon as I can swing it.

If they were SCCA (scantioned, legal, and insured), then they would never block access for anyone.

Spectators drive up and watch for free.

Search SCCA and look for your local chapter. You'll find one, I'm sure.

And if we want to talk about "AutoX kills"

Then basically anything you beat, raw time or PAX, counts.

I've had better raw times than a number of Trans-ams and 350Z's, and usually PAX better than a bunch of them.

Pax-wise, everone loses to the damn 1989 civic in STS. It's not about power when you're at full-throttle for over 80% of the course, and NEVER have to brake.

well, being that a lot of tC owners that post here are below the legal age to drink, I cant imagine them thinking about doing any type of road course or autoX.

After you do a few trips between the cones, you'll be bored by a road course.

Seriously... you'll get bored waiting for the next turn... whereas in an autox, it's like a freaking machine gun.

TURN TURN TURN TURN TURN TURN... straight TURN TURN TURN TURN WIGGLE TURN BRRRAAAAAAKE.

BTW... your car won't like you after an autox. Sometimes the fastest way through is to sit on the rev limiter for upwards of 3-5 seconds.

I run in HS with race tires and I have raw timed EVO, 350Z, vett, elise, and WRX. Almost always in top 5 on pax out of fields of 80-100 drivers and top 10 pax out of fields up to 150 drivers.

The tC can autox and win, don't let anybody tell you other wise. I'll be taking it to Topeka for the 2007 Solo Nationals next year to see what I can do against the best of the best.

BTW Scion will pay $1000 for any Scion that comes in 1st in its class at Nationals. Anybody want to join me? I'll share my setup to help you out.

By girl I mean car, She earned it, why can't she use it?

It is on three wheels more than it is on four. If you are going to autox, expect a lot of this. .
