Default Lancer EVO

Was wondering if anyone beat a lancer evo with their turbo setup. If so, what was the evo's setup and what is your setup? Trying to benchmark some real world figures ya know. Dynos are dynos but i would love to know how our turbos stack up outside the jets.

Not sure with the EVO, but there have been some setups that can get the STIs. But I believe the EVO is actually faster than the STI although the STI has more HP. The EVO hooks up better on the line.

An Evo with an intake/TBE and a simple mail-in flash can approach 330awhp. If there are any mods other than that, you may as well not even bother. They'll take you off the line and keep on going.

There are very few tC's out there that could take on a stock Evo, let alone one with mods.

^^Agree.

Aren't the STIs much heavier than the EVOs as well? EVOs are nice rallyX cars but seem to perform better in straight line runs than the STI. The STI seems to react better on dirt. This is from what I've watched on Speedvision during the Rally events. Seems like the STIs almost always come in first.

from the 1/4 times I've seen Evo do I think only ZPI or Dezod's car could take them but they are pretty darn quick machines even stock.

STis can be every bit as quick--if not quicker than--an Evo, some of it comes down to the often overlooked factor known as driver ability.

HP wise they are very similar with equal mods. Good luck with the tC catching either one.

I agree.. I think there are only 3 tC's on this board that could hang with a bone stock EVO.

A tC with a stage 1 turbo kit (any company) is not going to get the job done. Maybe with some internals and boosting it up a little more, but it wouldn't even be close out of the box.

Sti's are pigs in a slalom compared to an EVO...where you getting your info?

From what I've seen at the track it seems like the EVO does get off the line a little faster then the STI.

But if you go by the magazines it's a driver's race with them favoring the STI most of the time.

They both respond great to mods.. The mods just seem cheaper for the EVO.

Look wise I think the EVO's are way ahead, pre-05 STI's looked pretty good but then in '06-07 they changed the front end and made it much less attractive.

From a dig you'd have to have quite a bit of HP to catch an EVO. I raced a buddy of mines stock IX from a 40 roll up to 110 and I had a nose at most on him. As they said once you do the reflash plus a couple other easy mods to them I'd have to up the boost to even stay within a car length of them. I've considered trading in the tC many of times for one but just cant bring myself to drive a mitsubishi.

btw, I think this topic would be better off in the autosports section

From the rally cross races they show on TV. I think the visual works rather than the numbers for me.

If the track time in your signature is accurate then your friend in the EVO can't drive at all. A bone stock IX should run a very low 13.. Even a mid 13 on a bad run. With a MUCH higher trap speed.

OK.... enough Subie Mitsu back and forth...

I'm pretty sure that you'd have to run some significant boost, and possibly built engine work to take an evo, as they are just monsters... and taking them in a straight line is one thing... When I get all finished with my setup I'll do a few runs with some of my team members and see what we look like...

Switch over to a 100shot and you should be able to take one (since you have a turbo now as well)

ive always really like the Evo since i was in high school and i first started really gettin into cars. I think the styling is so much better than the sti hands down. And the handling on the evo is just amazing too the computer control is seamless. I might have my eye out for the concept X when it gets into production cuz it is supposedly going to be lighter and more hp...that just sounds so nice. If it isnt so good, there is still the ix which is still an incredible machine. Heres an awesome video from the great streetfire.net site:

On a random note i was day dreaming about toyota supras today at work. Drifting away in my dreams man. Still so in love with tthat car. 2jz.....

I havent come across an STI yet but Ive taken 2 Evo in the past month. The first was a Evo 8 with exhaust from what I could tell. Got him by about 2 car from 50 mph. The 2nd was an Evo MR and that was weird cause I got him by about 3-4 cars till I hit 120 then I let off. Maybe he wasnt a good driver but I didnt know either of these guys.....just came across them, both from 50-60 mph on the highway.

If you guys remember, Munch took a STI with a Turbonetics kit with exhaust and DR's in the 1/4 by about 2 cars. Watch the vid.
