if im not mistaken, i just read over the classifications on the website, i think you would fall under the STU class. Because im not boosted, im under ST, but i ahve raced STU before.

 

yea i called and talked to the guy that runs solo classification and told him what i have, the sc'r and pulley, tune and all that and he said sm is what id be...

 

if you go to an event they'll usually help you classify your car. all the info is in the rules i know its a lot to read through but that is were all answers are. i've only seen a couple of table break downs but they never last online.

 

Yep, supercharger automatically bumps you up into Street Mod. The turbo did that for me.

Great shots Thorium and thanks for reviving this thread. I had completely forgotten about it and never posted any shots.

Here are some from the first and last days of last year's season. Funny how the sky looks the same in both shots...stupid Seattle.

Pre-track photo session. That M3 sedan is owned by a buddy from work and we had an awesome back/forth the whole day of him passing me then me passing him. Very fun run.


I had just passed that red S2000 after two laps of chasing him.


Not sure if this video will work, but this was the first lap that I saw the S2000 and started to work to catch up to him. Sorry about the quality, we only had a little point/shoot cam. (Can't make it show up as an embedded player, just click the link and you can watch it)

hey one nut mcgee, how exactly did you mount that splitter? i have the apr one ready to go for this summer, but when i looked briefly underneath, i did not see much to mount it to

 

The underside is basically just tacked through the pre-drilled holes that held up the factory underbody dust guards. The splitter rods are garbage and I'm not at all happy with how they're attached. (One has already chewed through the plastic...).

The rods are basically mounted to the bottom of the middle section of the bumper and just drilled in through the plastic. In my opinion this is a super bad idea and barely gives the splitter any support. I'm going to be fabbing up some brackets to attach the rods to the bumper support if I can.

As funny as it'd be to have the splitter rip off the car and turn into a 1/4 inch thick death frisbee, I think a few bucks worth of metal is a really good investment.

Oh, also, Try to keep the rods mounted relatively straight when looking at the front of the car. I mounted mine at a bit of an angle and it gives the splitter a bit of a warp which isn't helpful.

 

Is that a Hero GoPro cam, Slikk? Are you just using a suction mount on the sunroof or is it pinched between the roof and rails? Any video?

 

I fabricated brackets for my APR splitter. Also the factory front bumper plastic is to weak to support the downforce created from the splitter (as mentioned the rod pulling through on one-nutts splitter). I reinforced the monting spot by putting a piece of alluminum on the back side of the mount spot.

 

For my APR splitter, were the rods are going through the plastic, I am using a piece of alluminum as a back plating. I have tried using a washer, but that was not strong enough. The little thick piece of alliminum has held up under the down force thus far, at speeds of 120mph.

 

Yea, I did basically the same thing. I threw some washers on there for the first time I went to the track and it stood up to the speed well, but after a while it just ate it's way out through the plastic, even with the washers. I should've thought to use a whole strip of metal like you, but I admit that I didn't do my due diligence of checking to see if it was damaged after I raced with it.

I'm debating just welding a bracket to sit like a clamp over the top of the intercooler and connect back to the bumper support. I'm pretty sure that'll make it a HUGE pain in the ___ to get the front bumper off for maintenance, but maybe I'll figure out a way to make the rods quick release-able and reach down from the top to unlatch them.

 

I can remove my bumper and the splitter can still be attached. It connects to my bumper in only 4 places. When I get some time I can take pics if you want.

Rhythm, you're still connecting to the plastic of the bumper though, right? Not actually connecting to a structural piece? If you're doing it the way I think you are, it's the same way I did it (just with a smarter implementation of it) and are still connected through the bumper...
