guys, anything is possible...true, BY THE NUMBERS there is no way in hell a Gt would lose to a tC, given the same onditions..but a lot of people have done or seen it done, including myself....

Because no one that said they did beat a GT.. they beat a bad driver that happened to be in a GT, or someone that probably was not even racing to begin with. You dont "beat" a car that is over a second faster than yours, you beat a horrible driver.

 

I've seen a v6 w/ GT badges, and dual exhaust. The biggest clue in the last gen 'stang is the bumper, oddly enough, if it doesn't have cut outs (plural) then the exhaust was added and therefore a v6.

I think the "most important sign" would be the V8 roar. I've said it a lot and I'll say it here, "Nothing, sounds like an American V8, lots of **** can beat one, but nothin' sounds better."

 

Damn skippy, I didn't beat a WRX or an M3, I beat bad drivers in both tho.

 

It would be a waste of Gas for me to race a GT in the tC. I need Cobra's to tag along. For the GT, I would use the Z for that.

Have to defend the s197 <05- > Mustang here, you guys have zero chance against a GT, dig or roll, and only a bolt-on n/a TC would have a chance against a V6...the auto v6 turns low 15's consistently stock and the 5-sp high 14's stock. From a roll esp against an auto v6 it might be close, we have zero top end. But from a dig, not believable.

The new edge <99-04> v6's ran from mid 15's in manual to 15.9-16.1 or so in auto, way more believable for a Tc to take. New edge GT's ran from low to mid 14's, so not as believable.

Before that, the sn95 <94-98> v6's were complete jokes, mid 16's-17's, and the GT's in those years were high 14-low 15's.

 

I was going home one day and a mustang GT pulled out from the grocery store. This old grandma was driving with what looked like bags of groceries, but I knew it was hiding her bottles of NAWZZZZZ. We were both in front at the stoplight. She looked over at me, smiled politely and waved. I knew it was on!!!! So I took off from the light when it turned green. I beat her by like 20 car lengths. That proves that a tC can beat a mustang GT with NOSSSS. A win is a win!

 

Oh come on now! I drive a 2002 V6 auto and I know for a fact that I can hang with Scion tC's, so don't sit there and say they are POS's. Don't underestimate the mustang, I call COMPLETE B.S. on the original poster. My friend has a new tC that I hang with and/or beat every time we race. To think that you can beat a GT???

No STOCK tC will beat ANY 99+ Stock GT. End of story. Bottom line. Some of you are SO mis-informed, whoever posted this -

Is a very un-informed man (or woman). They are not overestimating anything, they are being REAL. A stock GT will lose to a stock LS1 or LT1, BUT a stock GT will SMOKE a tC, and will beat/hang with MANY other cars. Don't underestimate the GT power, it was most likely a V6 that wasn't even racing you. At the end of this post I will post a picture of my car, which I have dual exhaust on and NO GT badges. There are MANY ways to tell if it was a REAL GT or not. Did it have Bumper inserts for the dual exhausts? Did it have foglights? Did it have alloy rims? Did you see the interior? Did it have a hoodscoop (Which came stock on some V6 Mustangs, so is also NOT a good indicator)???

If you take a Mustang V6 and throw some 4.10's, a T-lok, CAI, UDP and a Performance chip, not to mention H/I/E, which are all RELATIVELY cheap mods, you will have a fairly quick car. Face the truth man, you did not, nor will you ever beat a Mustang GT 99 +. It's just not happening. Even FI I can't see you beating a GT, perhaps H/I/E, SC, UDP, CAI and you can hang ... But why dump that much money in a car just to HANG with a GT?

BTW, take as many shots at my V6 as you want - I have beaten tC's, I have beaten Eclipses, I have beaten many cars that you would say I couldn't. Also, within 5 months I will be either driving a 2001 SVT Cobra (320 hp, 317 tq) or a 2004 GT (260hp, 302tq). Either way, even my V6 (193 hp, 225tq STOCK) will hang with / beat you guys.

the 05 v6 is as fast as the previous gts...i know, my girl has an 06 and my mom has a 99 gt. The gts are fast, but quite beatable with your mods, they are good until about75ish then they suck so from a roll with a lightweight flywheel and pulley, you could rev much quicker and hit the 4k-6300 sweet spot that our cars enjoy

 

Who is this Tool coming on our boards talking trash...Dude, seriously, I got two cars that will walk all over your GT. You would have to start with my Z first. If you can hang with that, THEN and ONLY THEN will I bring out the tC for you. Bring your GT and watch it get toasted. Then go home, trade it in for a 2001 SVT Cobra, just so you can get smoked again. Hell I do you one even better, go try to score a brand new Saleen Mustang, maybe then you would have a chance...

And don't think for one minute I'm full of it either. This tC has walked an LS1 Firebird (fiance was driving not me). I've walked away from a brand new TrailBlazer SS (rated 395hp)...

The fact that you haven't posted times with your "SUPER COOL MODS" leads me to believe thats the best you can get out of that car.FYI, my friend with a 2002 GT runs 11.08 1/4 mile, my friends dad with a '03 Cobra runs 11.99 1/4 mile, and my friend with a 2000 V6 runs a 13.1 1/4 mile.

Sorry buddy, but H/I/NO EXHAUST will NEEEVER take ANY 99+ GT, or most 99+ V6's. Even the V6 outmaches you 193 HP and 225 TQ. You need to learn a little bit about cars. Yes, I know what N/A means. I know what F/I means. I've forgotten more than you will ever know. When you wake up from your fantasy land you will realize your car is a slow P.O.S. and you should have bought the LS1 or the GT. For you to sit there and say ANY Scion will beat ANY GT stock, OR with just headers and intake you are SAAAAADLY mistaken. Why not take some classes on cars?

my scion is slow yes, because they all are.

but I also have a 91 civic hatchback with a B16 swap. when the motor was bone stock with a crappy ebay short ram intake, it ran low 14's at LACR in Palmdale, CA. needless to say, its not a stock motor anymore.

I just no to not drive like an effing retard on the street. why the hell do you think there is such a crack down on imports and modification? Because dumbasses like to try to prove something and feel like a big man, by trying to mess with/race/ or just generally drive like a dumbass on public roads.
