The Race I forgot to post about
yeah from my younger days i remember in the streets there was a lot of hate based on what you were running and it was cool to "run deep" and whichever group "came through" with the most numbers of the same car thought themselves to be the best and strongest
or least original (or with the best organization of the group) it depends on how you look at it.
I find in competitive evetns though the more different the car the more interested and impressed people are to see you doing different things. The group i rally with has an uber rare 323 gtx and somebody actually runs a volvo station wagon, and does very well with it. Back when i had my jetta and took it to the dragstrip and took down a sunbeam tiger with a 351 jaws hit the floor, there was a crowd around my car for the rest of the night.
you can start with any platform, it's all about what you do with it and how you run it.
I have an unoffical level ranking of cars. If you start with any car and can hang with (in all aspects not just straight line) a car 2 levels above what you started with you've done good. levels are more then performance though, price and quality come into play as well. Like having an sti and taking a 5.0 foxbody in a straightline isn't anything. I mean yeah those are great great dragcars, but you can build 3 of them for the cost of buying an sti, and that's before you touch the sti. now if you have a 94 civic hatch, you source a B18 for it, swap in a hondata ecu and slap a gt28rs on it pick up a limited slip and start taking down evos. then you're onto something becasue you'll have about 12k in the car that should run in the high 11's and be reliable enough to drive everyday. and should something happen, parts are cheap and readily available

and yes many pro dragster drivers start street racing, but then they grow up and move on to bigger, better and smarter things that pay the bills.
just like i don't expect travis pastrana to show up to nashville, he's moved on from that, 3 years ago yeah he'd be there but not now, he's grown on and become better.
btw i have to say i'm lovin' the CF fenders, I do really really like the look of your car, and I'm not a "looks" guy when it comes to cars

idk i liked those movies cause they had cool looking cars and hot girls that doesnt mean i take any automotive knowledge from them or try to be like anyone in those movies.
the whole fast and the furious hating thing seems kinda dumb to me, i dont know how old you are but this is like when i was back in the sixth grade and everyone pretended not to like pokemon.

I guess you miss the part where I said "I personally was not calling you F&F". I said "That is what they would do to you here". Of 50+ cars here, maybe you will find 5 that have neons under it. Of those 5, 4 of them would be ricers. So, you automatically get lumped into the Ricer category for having neons.
Again, I wasn't speaking from my personal perspective, so don't think I'm the one bashing your car. I don't even know what it looks like, so why would I do that.
As for comparing F&F to real street racing....Not even close to the same thing. I do own all 3 series, as I'm sure those who hated the movie still have them on DVD.
PS...personally, Tokyo Drift was the best one out of all. The other two, were fakes compared to Tky D.

Trying to drift a FWD is not considered Drifting to me. Never thought about it, never will. I've seen some that can do it really well, but to me that's not Drifting, that's Dragging the rear of your car around a corner.
And the tC is faster in the 1/4mile AND 1/8th mile.
let me know if you want any instruction drifting i'm in prety good with Chris Raydo, MA motorsports (they lent me a S13 to run at a few events last year), and with Ryan Tuerck.
Also the shennadoah circuit at summit is a great track to practice on

^^yeah, I love SEDA. There is also Drift Mechanics (The demo Drift Team that does all of Nopi's demo shows). That is their forum name. The actual Team is called BattleGround. I am a member on their forum too. They are based out of Atlanta, and have Practice days as well. Not sure if you have heard of Andy Sapp, but he is a BattleGround driver, and participates in the D1. Which is cool, because he still post on the forums despite is suedo-celeb status.
