Default so i had another go at an RSX-S

this was the second time i went at it with an RSX-S, the first time wasnt much of a race cause he had his car packed with ppl. id say maybe 4 or 5 ppl in the car. yesterday was a diff story. im on my way to my girlfriends house when this blue RSX starts weaving through traffic to catch up and eventually passes me. so i decieded to gun it and catch up to him. thats when i saw the type s badge and thought to myself i might not be able to catch him. but slowly but surely i started gaining on him. and we got side by side. we stopped at the stoplight and i figured i could take him from a dead stop if i caught up to him from behind. the light turns green and both our tires chirped and im not ____ting you when i tell you i did nothing but pull from him all the way thru 4th gear. ended up about a car and a half in front of him when i finally let up at around 100mph. im assuming he was all stock. but all i see ppl asking on these boards is what it takes to beat a RSX-S. all ive got so far is intake, s pipe, exhaust, pulleys, unichip, and twm shortshift.

with your mods and him being stock
its quite possible if you are a "good" driver and him being an "ok" driver

my cousin in his tC has cai/exhaust
he beat me when i was stock (its also my first manual car and the first time i've every raced)
i say he got my by a half car
but after that race, my cousin never got close again

i race my friend's type s all the time. if i get a good launch i usually stay ahead of him until 80mph then he zips past me doing 90+mph. same story if we go on a roll. i've never stayed infront all the way to 100mph. thats impressive.

so i tried racing him again today. cause i just got my ZPI exaust installed earlier this week. hes got ingen intake and buddyclub race headers. we did 3 runs on a roll 45,55, and prolly 65mph. at 45mph and 55mph id pull away maybe a car lenth and on 65mph we are dead even untill his vtech kicks in on his 3rd gear and he flies by me on all 3 runs. still around 80mph is when he passes me.

from your explanation
obviously, your friend does not know how to race his car(no offense)
from those rolls, he should be in vtec from the start of the race til the end
meaning if he raced his car properly, you should not hear the crossover
the only time you would hear vtec "kicking" in is if he just floored it at a low rpm without shifting

wait ... so let me get this straight ... cus all I heard was

"We raced to 100mph on the streets in traffic and I won"

Is it at all possible that he wasn't going at it as hard as he could being he was watching for traffic meanwhile you were only focused on the honda over your shoulder and wouldn't have seen the old lady in the continental or cowboy in his pickup pull out in front of you? Not being pessimistic, just a thought.

yea he isnt one of the best drivers. hes not going to be reading this so non offence taken. he misshifted his car once so now he grannyshifts. and whenever i drive his car going from 2nd to 3rd i'd sometimes hit the gate or the part thats inbetween 1st and 3rd. so thats why he probably kept it at a low rpm or 3rd instead of going to 2nd( i dont even know if an RSX can be in 2nd doing 65mph, i know i cant), hahaha i'll give him the heads up on properly racing his car.

Sounds like he may have just went from 3rd and 4th. Second ends around 60 or so. He should have been in 3rd at 65 and would be sitting @ vtec ready to rock'n'roll.

Good job though!

i believe he beat him. Cause driving is everything. I've seen vipers run 14's in the 1/4, cause of the drive. when i was naturally asperated for a while, and all I had was a 25hp shot of nitrous.. I raced a Greddy Turbo'd TC and beat it. Because of the drive. Anything is possible. Driving is everything, the car u drive just give's you the POTENTIAL to go faster.

i believe you man..i raced a rsx type s too..and this was a real race because we met up at a spot and raced from a stop. We raced 2 times and i won both. I had Intake headers exhaust and an axleback and the types s have intake headers and full catback.. i blew him from the launch and was 1 car ahead of him. The race end on the end of forth gear.

I wonder how the public got the idea that import drivers are all street racers, right out of Fast & Furious?
