Heh. Just noticed this thread is still here, still going strong, so I thought I'd stop by and say hi.

I got my ScanGauge II from Zack about a year and a half ago, and it, too is still going strong. :D

Probably the best money I've spent on an accessory for Vanilla (my xB).

Well I finally got mine in a few days ago and still toying with it. Where is the best place to mount this where I don't have to drill any holes?

I really like where I have mine located - excellent and quick readability, no holes to drill, no damage to any surfaces, no problems with installation:

The SG II is attached to the dash with velcro on the back, the cable was dropped through the dash space down to the plug-in via the existing space around the speedo bezel after it was removed. Bezel popped back in no problem with cable in place (if it's tight, the back-side of the bezel can have an invisible notch filed into it so when the SG is removed there is no indication it was ever there.

Other people like it other places...

Tom's spot is one of the common ones along with the ledge under the dash, check out the first page of this thread for some install pictures..

Has there been any issues about this draining the battery? I tried to start my box and nothing. The battery is so dead I can't even get it out of park to push it out of the garage to diagnose the problem. Seems kind of strange since this car never had this problem up until now.

Nope, the unit only has power with the car on or when you push the buttons to wake it up. Never heard of any issues with draining the battery but keep us up to date on what you find out.

I've never heard of any SG II draining a battery, but I suppose it is remotely possible for some sort of failure in the unit to do that.

I wouldn't think it is very likely, though.

To get it out of park, pop the little trap door in the console to the right of the shifter open and push the little mechanical button to release the lock - that should let you shift out of park no problem.

Well I called the dealership to check to see if the car was still under warranty and they said it is. So I'm having a tow company to take it to the dealership to replace the battery. I doubt it was the Scangauge but it sure is a coincidence.

Thanks for the info. Tom, I manage to get it out of park by pressing a little harder on the brake peddle.

Just wondering how long the shipping delay is? Been wanting one since I first heard about it when the media did a story on hypermillers (sp?)

I like to know as much information about the car so this is right up my alley.

Well mine says shipped now... thankfully. But I have no idea what the tracking number would be or when it actually shipped. I hadn't checked it for a few days.
