Break in
I'm getting my new TC in a few weeks and I was just wondering if anyone knew how to properly break it in. Should I stay away from long trips? My friend did some crazy stuff with his STI to break it in, but is that stuff necessary with the TC?
You are supposed to drive it at varied speeds and not push it too hard. Basically, just drive it "normally" around the city and short highway distances.
Then again you could do what I did and go on a 3 hour road trip the day after taking delivery of the car. We went to Florida for the weekend. When I got back I drove it like they tell you to. I've never had any problems with it.

Yeah, just drive it around in typical city situations, should be just fine, just stay away from redlining it in the first 1000 miles.
I'm curious, what did your friend do to break his STI in?

here, straight from the manual:
Break–in period
Drive gently and avoid high speeds.
Your vehicle does not need an elaborate break–in. But following a few simple tips
for the first 1600 km (1000 miles) can add to the future economy and long life of
your vehicle:
Avoid full throttle acceleration when starting and driving.
Avoid racing the engine.
Try to avoid hard stops during the first 300 km (200 miles).
Do not drive slowly with the manual transmission in a high gear.
Do not drive for a long time at any single speed, either fast or slow.
