Default Detailing thread?

Sorry guys if this has been done or you don't want it done, but I'm new. I did use the search like it told me to, and I didn't find a official thread, just a lot of random questions, which is why I figured this would be a good idea.. If its not just lmk and I'll delete it..

So I guess to start this off I'll say that I know a fair amount about detailing, as I used to work for about a year at a high end detailing place. So if anyone has any quesitons, I may not be able to fully answer them but I will do my best and if I don't know I will tell you isntead of telling you bull____ like some detailers.

To start it off I'll post my car that I recently detailed. I only did the outside, as the inside wasn't in need of a detail, but not good enough to take pictures of, but next time I do the interior I will for sure take pictures.

Some of the products I used were:

Simple Green Car wash formula
RainX Bug and tar remover(for the front bumper)
Simple Green(All Purpose cleaner- you can use this stuff for anything, buy it)
2 Buckets- one for rinsing, one with soap
Microfiber wash mitts
LOTS of microfiber towels- costco has 36 for under $10 and they are decent quality
California squeegie thing- amazingly easy to dry with
Walmart buffer- I'm working on getting a PC, thats what I used to use at work and what I'd recommend for anything more than a simple wax(polishing, paint correction, etc)
Meguiars NXT 2.0 tech wax
Meguiars Deep Gloss polish(in reverse order- polish then wax obviously)
Groitt's Garage tire shine- love it
Stoner's Invisible Glass window cleaner
I'm sure there is more but I'm exhausted and thats all I can think of right now

Like I said guys, sorry if this is dumb or has been done, or if it isn't helpful. Any questions or comments lmk, thanks

Meguiars, ftw!

Okay, how do you take out those stubborn water spots. I've heard others' tips...what's your stake?

Are they only there if you wash your car in the sun and/or don't dry it in time, or are they permantly in the paint? If they are permantly in the paint what I would do is start with a polishing compound(you can do it by hand but it might not work as well without a random orbital buffer) and see how that works. Most of the time, a strong enough compound with a good speed on your buffer should get them all off.

And to avoid those(you might already know this) make sure to wash your car not in the sun, and make sure to dry it quickly and wash in sections. Also, sprinklers are a big cause of these waterspots, because of the impurity of the water and the chemicles used to make yards healthy

Ehh I don't think I need to, I put my hand in a plastic baggie and ran it against the car and didn't feel any bumps or anything. Plus the fact that its an 07 and its been waxed often and cleaned weekly since day 1. But I guess I'll consider it

You'll be amazed how much claying will pull off a BRAND NEW car off the lot... I am sure your 2007 is loaded with stuff you don't even know of!

I did mine a few months after I bought it took plenty off. You'll be amazed!
