Default Fixing Edges Of Plexiglas

The edges of the plexiglass thats covering part of my sound system show up white when up against the black carpet, they are not smooth and are really gritty from cutting them. I tried painting the edges black to go against the carpet but it still shows white through the glass if you look at an angle... How can I sand this down to make the edges clear like the plexiglas itself?

Use a file to smooth out the rough parts and sandpaper to finish. Make sure it is clean and use a torch to flame the edges. This will give it a nice glassy look. Be carefull not to scorch the plexi.

Correct, If you work your way up to some 1000 grit you could polish out the scratches and make it match the rest of the plexi.

Or, file, sand, polish with polishing compound on a polishing wheel. That's how I used to do it, uh, 45 years ago in shop class.

If your really carefull, flaming the edges with a torch works the best when you already have rough parts sanded down. Gives it a nice glassy look

You would have to find a buffing polish made for plastics and buff it out.

Make sure to do a test area on whatever you're doing, Plexiglass usually doesn't take well to polishing unless you use the right product with the right technique.
