Have all dealerships switched to synthetic blend?
My local Toyota dealership's service department has switched to Castrol Synthetic Blend for all oil changes. I'm okay with it....I know it's good oil. I was just wondering if ALL Toyota dealerships have switched, or is it just mine.

I got lifetime oil changes at my Scion dealer for free for whatever reason...
When I got to 4500mi on my tC I called to schedule an oil change and I asked what kind of oil they used, they said conventional motor oil - the "Toyota" brand oil.
I asked how much to upgrade to a full synthetic oil and the guy said "$6 a quart" and I was like:
"Well...don't you take off money for the regular oil?"
"No"
"Why not? I have free oil changes"
"Yea, exactly, they're free.."
"Uh huh...and if I got them it'd use conventional oil and it'd be free...so wouldn't it make sense to take off the regular oil and just charge for the extra price of the synthetic?"
"No"
"Mmm hmm, I see, and how much for a tire rotation?"
"$40"
"$40?"
"Yea..."
"So $40 for a guy to take off 4 tires with an impact wrench and swap the tires - which takes all of 5 minutes and $6 for a quart of synthetic oil which you're not removing the price of the conventional oil cost?"
"Right"
"Ok, go f**k yourself and have a great day."
The guy was a real d**khead and very sarcastic about his remarks...so I'll be doing all my scheduled maintenance myself.
I ordered enough AMSOIL 5w30 fully synthetic oil and high flow filters for about 3 oil changes and it cost about $80 shipped, which is damn good.
And $40 to rotate my tires? Give me a damn break! I've never heard of anyone charge so much for a friggen tire rotation! You can buy a jack and jackstands for $40 and do it yourself...
No, no sirs, I won't be letting Toyota maintain my Scion tC. I'm bringing it to someone who I KNOW knows what they're doing:
ME!
Sorry to get off on a tangent.

My dealership uses Castrol and has three 'levels' of change offered.
Regular oil, Blend, or Synthetic.
My first 'Free' Scion oil change was with the full synthetic at no extra cost.
(They don't use the Toyota/Scion oil in the service bays, but do carry it in parts if one wants it.)
The filters they use in the Toyota/Scion service bays are Toyota (they are a Toyota/Scion/Ford dealer).
Regular oil, Blend, or Synthetic.
