I've always had concerns about clay vs. clearcoat. Does the clay remove any clearcoat?

No it doesnt remove the clear coat.. just the impurities on it...follow the instructions to a T. It makes it so you are not waxing over the dirt.. feel the paint before you wax it and then again after and you will feel the difference immediately.

I love the clay. Love it! Results=amazing. I love literally feeling the clay taking off the roughness.

And yeah, follow up with a good wax.

How much would it cost to have a proffesional do all this for you, the whole shebang Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax. I know it will be expensive, I just wanna know how much so. Also, how long after do the effects last? "how often should it be repeated"

For a tC I would charge $130 for a light wash, clay, light polish, and wax/sealant. That includes tire dressing and wheel well cleaning. Price goes up on a larger vehicle, or if I need to do more than just one polish step. That is exterior only, interior services would be more.

That's what I charge, others can be different. If you want to have it done, make sure you find a good detailer, don't just go for the best price, cause that guy usually doesn't care. A detailer in So Cal is completely justified in pricing their services at $35-60/hour.

That depends. If you're rough on the car again and neglect washing it, or if you take it to your local gas station car wash (aka, the swirl-o-matic) then you'll lose it pretty quickly. However, if you wash it weekly with a good technique, and then reapply wax every 1-3 months, you can avoid having this process done often. After 6 months it would be a good idea to clay the car and then rewax and possibly even polish it again, depending on what sorts of swirls have been instilled. So basically, how long the look lasts is up to you. If you take care of it and maintain it correctly, you theoretically wouldn't ever need to be polished again.
