I personally use the WIX filters (and last I heard they had the contract for making the US-made, Toyota-branded filters).

We've also had folks who work at WIX as members here who have commented knowledgeably. Rather than saying "buy such and such" I would much rather just see those one should NEVER buy listed.

I'll start that list... Fram

Years ago they were good, these days, not so.

Enjoy!

The Wix that were made in Dillon, SC, and in Gastonia were good products but alas like most things they are now being made in Mexico and other places are not of the same quality. So they are hit and miss and that is why I would stay away from them

Champion Labs makes a lot of the high end oil filters everyone recommends

Of course find your own road

most of the high end filter are made by Champion Labs so if you can buy their own label you can make out
they make:
Mobil 1, K & N and now Royal Purple all sell oil filters made by Champion.
Baldwin is made by Clarcor. Wix is a subsidiary of Affinia, and they make the NAPA and Carquest filters. Honeywell makes Fram and a host of other brands and some OEM filters. Champion Labs makes Super Tech filters, as well as Mobil 1, K&N, and a host of OEM filters (including Mopar and Motorcraft factory fit). Purolator makes Motorcraft (service) filters, as well as Bosch (in the US).

I hope this helps you folks decide on what to use

...but the OEM filter is only really the OEM filter if it is also JDM. Most Toyota filters you see in the US are made under contract by a US manufacturer as opposed to made under contract by a Japanese manufacturer like your car originally came with.

Up until the last two filters, Vanilla has always had Toyota branded filters, the last two have been WIX. So far the WIX filters she's had have been "Made in USA."

Where do I get ahold of these... WIX filters? So WIX is better than the OE filters? (Besides the original one the car came with)

I wouldn't say that the WIX are better than the JDM Toyota, and I would prefer the JDM Toyota, but they are difficult to come by and often expensive.

Whoever is currently making the US made Toyota filters (it was WIX last I knew) makes filters to Toyota specs IF they put the Toyota brand on them, but I believe the internal design is not the same as the JDMs.

So, I'm back to what I said before, I do not know who to recommend, but I do know some to stay far away from.

I'm not an expert by any means, so I must depend on the knowledge of others for my choices.
