P2195/Lean CEl Thrown.
Looks like my O2 sensor may be taking a dump on me. Haven't changed my cars setup in about 20,000 miles and i'm just now throwing a CEL/P2195. It seems my O2 sensor is stuck lean. I haven't attempted to clean the sensor yet but I may be doing that this afternoon with some QD Electronic Cleaner. I'm running a K&N Typhoon CAI and an HKS Hi-Power axle back everything else in the intake/exhaust system is stock. The irony behind this is I just threw my stock air intake away 2 weeks ago cause I thought I was "good" from here...
I have 37,000 miles on my car and it's an 06. If I take it up to Toyota do you think they'd cover my primary o2 sensor under warranty or tell me to bug off cause i'm using aftermarket things that could clog/destroy my o2 sensors.
Thanks,
CJ

HMMMM
an intake really shouldnt be the cause of a bad 02sensor, headers normally cause that problem. If it says you are running lean, maybe you should check the fuel injectors. Hows the gas mileage been?

gas mileage to tell you the truth has seemed pretty normal. I've been messing with this for the past week and have yet to remedy it. I've tried running an octane boost over the o2 highly concentrated to clean it off and a full tank of 93 octane with no results. From what I can tell the gas mileage hasn't changed suprisingly enough even though if the o2 sensor is reading a lean out then my injectors should be dumping fuel to this thing. The car runs just like it would if the o2 sensor was functioning properly with no stuttering, stalls, or delays/loss in power, matter a fact it may be running stronger in this situation than the previous.

my Echo was getting the "system too lean" message starting at 104,000 miles, I never found anything wrong and ignored the light, 3 years later it stops coming on possibly because it burnt out, now I'm still running fine at 290,000 with the original O2 sensor. many other echo owners were getting the same warning, now I've heard from several scion owners with this warning and not one of them has ever found a real problem.

Maybe it's just a bad/defective O2 sensor? It would be worth not having to deal with the dealer to me to just throw in a new replacement and see how it goes after that. Let us know what happens and what you end up doing.

Will do, i'm taking up to the dealership on friday to do some investigation and have them fix it. As I understand by federal law, any emissions related component must be covered by an 8 year/85,000 mile warranty regardless of dealer stipulations.

you are correct, your O2 sensor is covered under an emissions warrenty which is clearly stated in the owners manual. 37,000 miles is too soon to be replacing an O2 sensor, unless its defective. there shouldn't be a problem getting it taken care of under factory warranty, and if not fight it because these new style O2 sensors are mad expensive. lots of luck in getting this taken care of.

I just got this SAME problem, I have a CAI and a Greddy EVO II, I only have about 18,000 miles on it!!!! Is that what the dealership told you what was wrong with it, cause im still under warrenty and if its $222 and thats what they told you, then im having them MF'ers cover that!!!!!
