Default synchros and gear oil

Do Scions have brass synchros? The manual says to use GL-4 or GL-5 oil, but those two are really very different oils. I am guessing they are listing both so that it's easier for the customer to choose oil. So the question is, does the tranny really require GL-4 and they are just listing GL-5 for convenience, or does the tranny really require GL-5 and they are just listing GL-4 for convenience?

Tamago, what fluid did you change to for the trans?

I'm going to go synth, but I've not decided what brand yet.
