this is my first vehicle ever and im a bit paranoid about it. i usually make sure tire pressure is up to par and make sure the engine oil is good about every week. what else is there to make sure it up to level?

brake fluid, power steering, turn signals. Check your air filter. There is so much to do you just have to take the time to do it.

Stick with toyota red coolant it is considered one of the best coolants out there. If you already have red coolant in your radiator then only use the toyota red. You never ever want to mix different colors of radiator fluid. This will cause some massive corrosion.

actually untrue . alltho it can lessen the coolants effectiveness. alltho i'd stick with toyo stuff if possible , but say you are very low anything is better than nothing.

I have a routine where I check all fluids, lights, electrical accessories, tire pressures (including the spare) once a month. I keep track in a small spiral notebook.

On the coolant, the toyo stuff is premixed with de-ionized water (I am pretty sure of that) . If you use a different brand, make sure to use de-ionized water out of a bottle. Never use tap water, as it contains minerals which will build up.

As far as checks.... I check the following often:
My oil
My brake fluid
My coolant
My tire pressure
My tire wear
My hoes ..... ok j/k, but it just sounded funny

The idea that digital systems are innacurate is not true. The ideas of accuracy and resolution are taken completely wrong most of the time. For example, a digital meter or gauge is bound to it resolution. So if a digital tire gauge has a resolution of 1 psi, then that is the increments it will read. So 1.56 psi will read as 2 psi. Is this a big deal with tire pressures?... no. As long as the gauge is built well, it should be just fine. Really, either will work ok. At most you are probably going to be off by 1 psi or so with either type so I wouldnt worry too much.
